I worked at Gulfstream Aerospace as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Co-ops and interns get great incentives. Furnished apt. is provided at a VERY low rate ~200/month.

Engaging program. Plenty of opportunity to network. You learn a lot.

Savannah and Tybee beach are fun.

    Cons

Occasional mundane tasks, slightly underpaid, co-ops get preferential treatment over interns, lack of strong work procedure can be frustrating.

Savannah isn't for everyone. It's hot and southern.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Too many meetings and metrics.

    Pros

Outstanding opportunity to apply your skills In aviation manufacturing, on a world class aircraft with a world class company

    Cons

Sometimes, it not what you know, or how well you apply your talent, it will still boil down to who you know

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Critique your employees based on the quality of the work they do, and not on how well they interact with other members of the team

I have been working at Gulfstream Aerospace full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay is decent for the area (Savannah, GA).

    Cons

Culture leaves a lot to be desired. Hard work is expected, and not usually appreciated or rewarded. Lots of talented people, unfortunately stuck because management knows they don't have employment options in the local market.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start living the leadership competency model. Stop the incompetent managers from bullying to get results. Recognize the people who have been loyal and hardworking.

I have been working at Gulfstream Aerospace full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Not only am I able to contribute to building a product that makes me proud when I see it at airports and flying overhead, I work with fellow employees who are honest and dedicated to a quality product for customers.
    --Very competitive pay
    --Good benefits
--Upper management who listens and invests in their employees
--Middle management who are empowered to promote from within

    Cons

I don't see any blatant cons...
-- Companies contracted to provide medical insurance have required employees to jump thru hoops to be reimbursed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep investing in employees. Good job!

I worked at Gulfstream Aerospace as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Gulfstream Aerospace is a great company, 4 10 hour days is a bonus. Compensation is very competitive with a great match in 401K that is immediately vested. There are a lot of learning opportunities with classes offered and other programs.

    Cons

There tends to be silos when working with different department. It can be difficult to get information/help from other departments as a lot of employees have been there for awhile and are hesitant to helping.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage cross departmental interaction to continue growing company.

I have been working at Gulfstream Aerospace as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Being a part of the production of the most innovative and top of the line aviation.

    Cons

Long hours are included, the pay is hourly so this could be a positive or negative thing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management rarely communicates with the assembly crew. I urge them to better network with the guys on the floor which will help the company grow in culture.

I have been working at Gulfstream Aerospace full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great company with decent benefits. Lots of opportunities for career growth. The location and is great and the company is in a growth and expansion period.

    Cons

Lack of promoting individual employee personal growth and engagement, clear assignment of responsibilities and holding individuals accountable for results. Processes and procedures are not clearly defined or unnecessarily complex. Routine procedures and tasks involve too many personnel and are inefficient.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Establish clear process and procedures for routine activities. Lots of opportunities for process improvement and organization. Provide employees the resources, give clear directions and hold individuals accountable for results. Management is not on the same page, too many layers of lower - middle managers. Too many initiatives. Lack of clear strategy or priorities.
