I worked at Gwinnett County full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Management, for the most part, understands that family comes first. Sick kids, school events, etc. are acceptable.

    Cons

No raises for employees for about the last 5 years. Upper management puts people in the wrong places doing jobs they don't know how to do. People rarely get promoted; new people with no experience are brought in and given choice positions while tenured, experienced employees are left behind. The result? Low morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take better care of employees and they will take care of Gwinnett County. Value their contributions and knowledge, promote from within. Respect them, listen to them, help them grow.

I have been working at Gwinnett County full-time

    Pros

All the pros were there a few years ago, but very few remain. Probably the only good thing to say is you have decent job security.

    Cons

New management (County Administrator and the Assistant County Administrator) have bungled this place up. No communication, no leadership, no long-term vision. People can't wait to retire if they have been there a while and others can't wait to get out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a new CA and especially a new Assistant CA/CFO that has a decent education from an accredited school.
