    I worked at H E B part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

You get to work with a diverse group of people
There can be very flexible with your schedule
    Open door policy with Management
Relaxed work environment with happy customers
I think they will help you with additional education if you work there for a year.

    Cons

I worked in a specialized department so there was less employee and noticeably high turnover.
This department was brand new and the management was slowly working out the kinks.

    I have been working at H E B part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, great leadership, investment in partners, flexible

    Cons

Some stores treat you awful while others take good care of you, depending on managers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start giving your partners more positive feedback. 9/10 the feedback is negative.

    I have been working at H E B part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Positive and energetic environment
    Recognition for hard work
Lots of opportunities for personal development
    Lots of opportunities to advance
Most managers care about and respect their partners
10% off on all own brand products, plus free products almost every week
Sense of community in the store and even in the company as a whole
You get to work with great people
Company is very philanthropic, generous, family friendly and involved in countless communities

    Cons

Open availability is highly encouraged and pretty much required
Work-life balance could be better, but it's not terrible
    Long hours
Schedules can be kind of unpredictable-hard to establish a definite, set schedule

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stay private!
Keep the same morals and mission statement that is thriving today!
I'm not sure if it's even possible with the way scheduling works... but it would be nice for partners to get their schedules on friday and it be for the next two weeks, instead of just one

    I have been working at H E B full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are amazing! In the operational side of the business work-life balance can be challenging with most Directors expecting 50 hr work weeks. However, the culture and spirit of the leaders in the organization are top notch.

    Cons

50 hr work weeks for salary employees expected, low accountability for low - upper level management, and like any large company a lot of politics involved in regards to promotions and development.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Base promotions on merit and not solely on who you enjoy going to lunch with...

    Pros

    - Flexibility
    - Company Growth
    - Positive Environment
    - Benefits

    Cons

It is next to impossible to move up into higher leadership without a degree. I really wish that such an innovated company would still list a college degree as a preferred qualification to move up in the company.
