    I have been working at H E B part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I worked at HEB over the summer after high school as a cashier and really loved it as a first part-time job. Since I'm away at college, they let me keep my job and just come in to work a handful of times a year while I visit my parents. I have always felt valued as an employee at HEB. The pay is decent for an entry-level Texas job. The customer service department is extremely well organized which is nice. The 10% discount on HEB items is great. So are the weekly free things. The uniform is flexible enough and allows jeans. They have online scheduling requests and shift postings. Breaks are regular and always given.

    Cons

It's physical labor and can be very exhausting. They structure raises to miss college students. Cashiering and bagging tears up your hands. There are frequently gross meat leaks that you don't have time to clean up. It's extremely fast paced and easy to get behind. You can't really choose how many hours a week you work. You get notified of your schedule for the week on Friday (3 days notice).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get students in on the raises. Most importantly, focus on the environment and make being environmentally friendly a priority. Recycle. Use less packaging. Focus on eco-bagging to use fewer bags and push reusable bags.

    I have been working at H E B part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I love the flexibility, the pay is decent, unless you plan to move up with the company & the 10% discount is fun especially when the company gives free items.

    Cons

Too much favortism, the service area (cashier, PLAs, CSA,CSR, etc) turnover rate is high. Managers come & go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have held a lower-level position once before please act like it. You are no better than the cashiers, PLAs, CSAs, etc. your title just changed.

Current Employee - CSA (Bagger) in Missouri City, TX

    I have been working at H E B part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good scheduling. Managers are quick to approve availability changes, and vacation days. 15 min grace period is nice. Other then than not very much.

    Cons

ASM+ can abuse power, unreasonable audits.
Managers that give audits often tend to be hypocritical. CSA pay is insufficient for the amount of labor compared to lot attendant, as well as cashier. Maybe CSA promotions and benefits.
    Equipment isn't up to par.
Training could be more in depth.
More opportunities for those 18-, a lot of the employees are ageist.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more flexible, better quality equipment, separation of power would be cool.

    I have been working at H E B part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Getting paid every week, flexible schedule

    Cons

Bad management, dress code sucks, tells you that you can't have a certain day off every week due to unfairnes, but gives that same day to others

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change the dress code and write up system, if someone has a legitimate reason for not being able to get to work then stop writing them up, and get rid of I.P.M.'s it shouldn't matter how many items scanned a minute as long as the customers are satisfied
