Pros
Raises every 6 months are a plus.
Cons
It is a physicaly draining job, never downtime.
Advice to Senior Management
Try a little harder to promote from within, i know there is a good deal of effort being put into promoting from within. However, the effort is not substantial enough to realize the gains.
Pros
Respected in community, Personal growth opportunities, stable company with consistent growth, HEB looks for leaders and drives home a mantra of personal success driving professional success.
Cons
There is a general belief that many cheaper is always better. HEB generally follows trends, but doesn't look set new trends.
Pros
Great benefits, skilled management, long-termed employees
Cons
Worked weekends, few Sundays off
Pros
Health Benefits
Bonus opportunity and payout frequency
Teamwork environment
Cons
Within upper management, it can be very "political"
Pros
Stable company, great perks, benefits and salary package, respected in the community, show genuine care for their Partners and Customers
Cons
Disconnect between stores and corporate, hours are long for store leaders and management, sometimes it appears too big...hard to get your ideas to the right people or make change happen
Pros
Benefits, Company Growth, Pay, and most importantly Pay...I can make up to 15.70 stocking groceries. Really!!!!? Where do I sign?
Cons
Not enough people working so everyone works double, too many egos running the place, a lot of jerk managers making and not making apathetic decisions. Every problem comes from the top down so there needs to be a change in the culture of how the place is run.
Advice to Senior Management
Care about your job, just once. (This message if for the department heads, not the Store Directors, they do a great job)
Pros
You are givin the opp to move up in the company.
If you know someone, the starting out pay is decent.
Management really cares about their staff.
Cons
The way youll move up in the company is if your a good talker and you have a college degree with no grocery store exp, you are automatically a shoe in. Then the stores are bombarded with young college idiots that try to change everything but dont have a clue what goes on in a grocery store. Also they tend to look down upon you because all of the sudden because this company has givin them the upper hand and suddenly they are better than you. There really isnt much care for your personal life. Having a sick child, you still will get written up for staying at home with them or taking them to a doctor, theres no excuse.
Advice to Senior Management
Please make the managers and store directors do their part in the company and work , instead of sitting in front of the computer looking at numbers all day. What happened to rolling up your sleeves and actually making an honest living and not sitting there watching the people that get paid 7 dollars an hour make your company run smoothly.
Pros
The passion for community and service is apparent all the time. HEB does offer great pay, great benefits, and ability to work on a winning team. Sr Leadership gives us the tools to be successfull, efficient, and is always available to listen to ideas to improve the business.
Cons
Work life balance is sometimes lost being apart of a great organization like HEB. Everyone has a passion to be the best and its so contagious that it makes you to want to work harder, unfortunately its at the expense of work life balance.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to support your partners and thanks for all that you do.
Pros
It's there. They're one of the biggest games in town. They don't really do layoffs because it's a grocery chain.
Cons
Pay, no work/life balance (availability must be 24 hours a day to get 40 hours per week), part-time status despite full-time work weeks
Advice to Senior Management
Stop playing favorites, stop playing games. Pay people a living wage. Pay a living wage. Pay a living wage. Pay a living wage.
Pros
There isn't alot of thinking going on if your part-time
Mostly friendly people work there
If you want more hours you can try to get them
They will give you feedback on your quality of service
They have SOME leniency towards arriving late but you dont want to push it
Discount
Cons
If you are too willing they might make you do menial tasks just be firm
