    Pros

Really great company to work for. Plenty of room to advance so long as you try. One of the best grocery stores to shop around.

    Cons

Sometimes the CCM's can be a little rude to their employees. I understand they are trying to keep the employees in line but understand that they are human too.

Hours are very flexible and there is a great training program for those who want to advance to management positions.

    Cons

Some managers have very biased opinions and that can make it difficult to be fair to everyone.

Great environment and very flexible schedule for college and high school kids. The managers there are great and make it a fun place to work.

    Cons

sometimes get scheduled weird hours for that week. but that does not happen all the time and it could be because they just have to work around your schedule.

As an order selector, you are an expendable robot with a number.

    I worked at H E B

    Pros

Good pay and you gain a lot of respect and good friendships from your coworkers if you work hard and still look out for everybody else.

    Cons

Very physically demanding. Came home every night/morning with bruises and sore all over. From day one, you're an expendable mostly self-learning robot labeled with a number. You're either lucky or have a lot of writeups if the team leaders learn even your last name. "Training" lasts 8 weeks but I learned most of it on my own as I MAYBE had a trainer with me 4 times in those 8 weeks. Ridiculous schedules, sometimes working 8 nights with only one day off in between. No family time because of the odd schedule. Always sleeping or working when my wife was home. And I worked every weekend since I started in March til I found a different job in November. Doctor put me on Prozac because I became severely depressed. Had to get to work sometimes an hour early early to get good working equipment. Some days I was put on meat orders 8-10 times in a row, picking a total of 25,000-30,000 lbs of meat in one night.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in some good working equipment or atleast maintain what you have. We are in fact humans and not robots. - Take a good look at your schedules and how they may affect home life, not just at how they affect the company. And change your system so that heavy meat orders don't stack up on one selector.

I have been working at H E B full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

great benefits, great pay for the state standard . Hiring process is less than a week. Literally the hired me on the second day. i started training on the third

    Cons

you feel like you are in the army. you are basically expendable cause people really fight for this job. IS an extremely competitive job, so is a "everyone fight for their own" if you" So basically if you are on the electric kart that hey provide you, and somehow you have an accident with your stuff. is very rare that someone will stop, and try to help you

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop promoting the alpha male motivational speech every morning, doesn't work like that anymore

    Pros

    friendly people
    somewhat understanding employers
Training is very short, you learn as you go
Company values costumers, above anything and everything.
you can transfer to a different department after 3 months

    Cons

You're outside most of the time for hours on end, hours are not stable, you don't get a raise as a C.S.A, it is very difficult to become a cashier even if you're doing your job correctly.
