Pros
Great breadth in role. You get great strategic overviews and can be involved at a high level.
Cons
Systems!!! Processes need work and more innovation is needed. Not world class yet.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep pushing leadership initiatives and training. Stay lean, don't get too bloated.
Pros
great work life balance, including summer hours, part time options, home working
flexibile options esp. for maternity leave, working mums
Cons
A multinational still working like a family business, backwards in terms of latest processes, consumer insights, training and people development. each department working in siols, no team culture, no sense of urgency
Advice to Senior Management
work on proper training and development process , transparancy in promotions. Lacking a proper performance review and promotion mechanism that employees can aspire and work towards.
Pros
Fantastic brands and some great people working hard to maintain the success in the UK of brands like Heinz Beanz, Heinz Tomato Ketchup & HP Sauce
Cons
An "us and them" feeling that exist between middle and senior management, which is triggered by the leadership style at the top, and the revolving door of people in the company leaving (some willingly, some not).
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to and respect the employees - it is the people who make the brands, who make the business.
Pros
Benefits are very good and the cost to the employer is minimal
Cons
We are going through a sales force redesign and are having issues with production planning and warehousing
Advice to Senior Management
Get the shipping issues fixed soon before we lose too many more customers.
Pros
Heinz has become a healthy company and is growing steadily. The business prospects are good. In many job functions, Heinz pays quite well. Not all functions are world-class yet, but they are getting there. The amount of "office politics" play seems relatively low compared to many companies of similar size. By and large, people are focused on getting the work done. Long hours are generally not expected. Most people work around 40 hrs/week. The offices are empty on weekends.
Cons
In some departments (mainly the less-glamorous ones, like accounting or some parts of operations) people tend to be less satisfied with where they are; that shows and perhaps affects the overall morale to some degree. Inter-departmental rotations are possible, but not easy to get; opportunities for international assignments are hard to come by.
Advice to Senior Management
Introduce formal rotational programs to multiple areas of the business. Yes, it is important. Speed up decision making regarding offers, promotions, etc.
Pros
Global Company with great name recognition. Great place to grow a career if you are a white male.
Cons
Growth is very limited. Not diverse and does not promote a culture of inclusion. Communication from upper management is horrible. IF you work at any site other than the global headquarters benefits, compensation and perks are different. One of the worse professional experiences that I have ever had.
Advice to Senior Management
Think outside of the box. Innovation is what makes any business successful and it is lacking at Heinz. Overall, Sr. Management leads with a 1980's mentality.
