    Lundbeck Deerfield review

    I worked at H. Lundbeck

    Pros

    Excellent people to collaborate with.

    Cons

As a growing company office space was at a premium.

  2.

I worked at H. Lundbeck full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good focus on patients well being and a growing company with products in the pipeline. Decent pay, good benefits and bonus, though it has changed in the last few years, everybody knows everybody's business. Started as a good small company culture of flexibility and entrepreneurship, but not anymore.

    Cons

Cannot rely on internal support for career advancement. Sometimes hard to trust your own manager as they are all out for their own goals and objectives, though they seem nice from outside they could be stabbing your back and senior leaders knowingly allow this to happen. Now that they are growing with the newly copromoted products, it's a challenging place to work. ,

    Pros

Very skilled and committed colleagues. Open and honest atmosphere. A lot of opportunities to shape your daily work and the long term direction.

    Cons

In general very few vertical career moves because management positions have slow turnover time.

    I worked at H. Lundbeck full-time

    Pros

Intelligent coworkers, good exposure to variety of aspects of the work.

    Cons

Work life balance is a big issue lately. Lundbeck is Danish which means decision making by consensus. Extremely process oriented and process heavy. Lots of discussions, countless meetings, including people who don't really benefit from participating or have the expertise to contribute. You can spend the whole day in discussions, with little time to get work done. Since this is such a prevailing issue, a lot of the actual project work is done in a hurry, with little thinking behind it, or by outside consultants who my or may not do a good job. If you like to discuss and present information, this is the ideal place. If you prefer to do things well and in depth, this is not a good company for you. Also, new alliances make things twice as difficult, with lots of meetings and TCs and alignment discussions, sometimes fruitful, often burdensome.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more people and give them the authority and the time to do their job.

I have been working at H. Lundbeck

    Pros

Small company so you get to know everyone
Buy in products when pipeline is weak
If things aren't working out, money is thrown at the problem.

    Cons

Culture is terrible! Lots of sniping and backbiting.
    Metrics not sales driven
Very few products - not all doing well - real concerns about viability long term.
    Not much in the pipeline
Lots of talk about team work but no actual team work
More contract staff than Lundbeck staff

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do something about the culture - all this sniping and back biting makes for low morale.
Give time for a decision to bed in, constantly changing direction is leaving people confused and concerned about their jobs.

I worked at H. Lundbeck full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Good products backed by good science
    - Good CNS research
    - BD focused on EU & US

    Cons

    - Very Danish-centric!
    - Highly political @ HQ level
    - Lack of real hands-on professionals at the front
    - "My Way or Highway" thinking

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Listen more
    2. Delegate more
    3. Value market experience and achievements rather than Danish origin
    4. Speak ONLY English is all meetings!

I have been working at H. Lundbeck full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

CNS specialization and commitment to improve lives of people suffering from psychiatric and neurological diseases gives you opportunity to focus on one part of the market and to develop high level of expertise within these fields.

    Cons

Narrow portfolio and dependence on a single product brings insecurity and uncertainty among employees in the future of business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lead by example. Be more flexible in work with subsidiaries (not all countries are of same size).

    Pros

CNS market is tough because of difficulties in generating new compound however Lundbeck is still heavily focusing on this therapeutic areas

    Cons

Due to the market environment changes is necessary and at times it impact on employees confidence

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

On the right track and should be a little more careful in strategising future growth

  10.

    The leading CNS company

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at H. Lundbeck full-time

    Pros

The leading CNS specialty firm, and only company with a late stage pipeline in the big disease areas depression, psychosis and Alzheimer's

    Cons

Development risk is still high, and recent patent expires make cost optimisation important, commercial plans and ideas will get closely scrutinised before being committed to

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is still a very Scandinavian company, in particular in HQ, which has benefits and disadvantages, overall it is a good thing, plus it's small enough for individual managers to still be able to make a significant impact on the overall company
