  1. Great company, typical retail environment, really depends where you work.

    Pros

H&M is a great company to work for if you're a sales advisor or a supervisor/manager. It's typical retail company in the the main work you do as sales (clean, fold clothes, work registers, fitting room, customer service, clean, clean, clean). As a Sales Advisor the pay is GREAT. Other retail companies pay minimum wage and don't give lots of hours, but H&M pays well and gives lots of hours.

    Cons

Customers can be the rudest, filthiest, and obnoxious people I have ever met. It's "high end" fashion for low prices so you'll get the Nordstom's crowd who expect the best service and can be snobby and you'll get the ROSS, TJ MAXX crowd who tear the store apart. Depending which store you're at you'll get out at 10-1030pm on weekdays or 1030-11pm on weekends.

    Advice to Management

District team needs to get it together. Lots of district management give lots of criticism, but never work in the stores or actually see the problems.

    Pros

the starting rate is above minimum wage and my co workers have become some of my best friends out of work.

    Cons

schedule you when you cant, management don't acknowledge your work and they pick favorites on who to promote. management doesn't know how to schedule and we are always under staffed .

    Pros

Decent pay for retail and promotions are common

    Cons

With that, comes the chaos of clothing piles everywhere. Management needs to be attentive.

    Advice to Management

Management should could keep an open mind of how tough their workers work.

    Pros

The people are great, the discounts are awesome, and there were always a lot of hours to work.

    Cons

VERY strict on timeliness (my previous job had a grace period, didn't know this one didn't until it was too late).

    Advice to Management

You guys gotta ease up and give EVERYone a chance to shine. Don't pick favorites.

    Pros

Growth potential, since H&M is always opening new stores around the country (and world). Better than most salary versus comparable retailers (like Forever 21) plus they offer health benefits.

Sometimes there would be bonuses with giftcards, and special employee discounts.

    Cons

For the most part, full-time staff must have open availability, as in your schedule will change every week. Most weekends you will work, and your shift could be anywhere from 6am-3pm to 2pm-11pm. Very difficult to have work/life balance with this schedule, even though you are technically scheduled for 40 hours a week.
