Good Company/Flexible Hours

Tax Associate (Current Employee)

I have been working at H&R Block Canada part-time for more than a year

ProsGood company to work for. Mostly seasonal work of which you mostly get to choose your own hours. Commission income is higher after three years of working there.

ConsSometimes you may get cranky customers, but most are great. Junior preparers usually need more training in order to get the confidence to start preparing the returns.

Overall a very good experience

Tax Professional (Current Employee)

I have been working at H&R Block Canada part-time for more than 10 years

ProsThe most flexible work place anywhere. People are great. Perfect place for semi-retired people or stay at home moms. Also great second job if you'd like some vacation money.
Great education system.

ConsPay can be low unless you are very flexible in work locations and shifts but if you are dedicated and can put in a few years and dont mind askingf for referrals you can make very good money in a very short time.

Great opportunity

Office Leader (Current Employee)
Halifax, NS (Canada)

I have been working at H&R Block Canada

ProsH&R Block was a great place to work for an upcomming accounting major in university, although I was not working as a tax professional, I did pick up ALOT of information about personal and business income taxes which in my opinion has been a great asset for my personal development.

ConsBusiness model has flaws in regards to how appointments are made and staffing. What i mean by this is how to manage walk in clients and appointments. Lets just say you end up making alot of people frustrated at peak times.

Advice to Senior ManagementJust work on communicating with your office managers more closely, it makes a huge difference when you know the management is in your corner to help you out when you need it.
