I have been working at HALCYON REHABILITATION full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay seems to be on par with other companies in the area. Because you know your patients, you set your schedule with them yourself. Probably varies at other locations, but here, the director listens to your concerns in a genuine way. Co-workers are great. Director works very hard to accomodate PTO requests, higher management works on other problems well when required. Very satisfied.

    Cons

I feel that sometimes, facility management (not therapy management), pushes too hard to keep a patient on caseload when clearly, they should be DC'.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We all feel that when you lumped sick days with PTO days, it was for your benefit only, contrary to your company line.

I worked at HALCYON REHABILITATION full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Initially, a good team. Salary was good but not worth the cost of your soul.

    Cons

Being asked to work off the clock for meetings. No overtime, even when short staffed or the computer system goes down and you spend tons of time catching up- you are expected to do it on your own time. Managers push 90% productivity so that they can get bonuses. Ethical complaints about the way patients are treated are ignored- you are literally told that you did not see what you reported, or that you should mind your own business. If you continue to raise concerns, they will threaten to let you go. Money and profit rules all! They expect you to spend your own money on materials they should provide for therapy. They promote COTAs and PTAs to management positions over licensed therapists because they can pay them less, especially if they are "yes men" who will do what they are told. They have a revolving door of mediocre (or often worse!) contract therapists, who are just there for the paycheck and have no business working in the field.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember why you went into therapy in the first place. Was it really just to squeeze every dime from Medicare?

    Pros

Great pay, They educate the employees, benefit package is good.

    Cons

They manipulate medicare guidelines to fit what is best for the company and not for the employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There administrators also refused to get a call bell system for three months at the expense of the patients just so she could meet budget and get her bonus at the end of the year.
