I have been working at HCL Technologies (Infrastructure Services Division) as a contractor for less than a year

Pros – Some of the experiences at HCL Technologies thus far has been fairly good. They have very good benefits if you are a permanent employee of the company. My experience so far with management has been a good one. I have no complaints about the management.

Cons – I came on as a contractor. I have been a contractor for 6 months and expected to convert to a permanent full-time employee after 6 months. Nothing seems to be happening to effect the conversion to full-time.

Advice to Senior Management – Speed up the conversion process when a contract employee has served well and desires to be converted to full-time permanent status.

Pros – Good learning oppurtunities for freshers and college passouts.

Cons – Micro management and lack of open attitude

Advice to Senior Management – Management need to start focussing on employee satisfaction. Company needs to revisit all employee benefits and related policies

Pros – You get Onsite if you are in good project

Cons – they may assign you to any project and you might be more capable

Pros – You make your own way up, you can have a good relationship with anyone based on whom you have contacts with and what you do for the organization your designation does not matter after some time

Cons – Some HR policies sucks, and the travel policies are awful, does not take care of you while travelling even if are an Employee first organization...it is becoming more of a profit margin first, employee second organization.

Advice to Senior Management – EBITDA and profit margins are important, but in the long run a satisfied employee can turn many prospects to realistic opportunities.

better work -family balance

Cons – Inadequate salary hike ,politics inside the office

Advice to Senior Management – Upper management make plan for company but there is little implementation deficit

Pros – Meritocracy - Fair Environment, Transparent Feedback Mechanisms.
Responsibility - Higher responsibility to people willing to stretch themselves to get to the next level.
Empowerment - Employee First is really about Empowering the interface with the customer... Amazing shift from companies which are focused on top down decision making.
Growth - with some businesses in the company growing @ 15% - 20% CQGR, growth opportunities for any person willing to work hard for additional responsiblity and career growth is great.

Cons – If you are a person who needs to be constantly supervised and told what you need to do, this is not a company for you.
If your focus is not career development, instead, you are looking for some quick wins in salary... you are probably better off with companies who make salary their only differentiator.

Advice to Senior Management – Develop a stronger Middle Management.

Pros – One could move from one department / area of expertise to another, within the organisation with ease upon demonstrating required skills. Internal training system / talent management system is very constructive. They have projects on various technical areas, hence more opportunities to learn new technologies.

Cons – HCL Technologies is not a very good pay master at the lower / middle and upper middle levels of organisation.

Advice to Senior Management – Should be flexible and quick to adapt the new ideas and ways of working in order to cater to the customers flexible needs.

Pros – Good culture of work
Single status policies

Cons – I have seen very often that people with poor skills stay and people with good skills leave, all because of the money.
Poor management decisions.

Advice to Senior Management – Job security,less pay,Biased apprisals,highly fluctuation HR polices,Pay cuts during recession,layoff s during recession,less clients. please take measures to overcome thisThe "do not counter offer" policy does not work in my country. People with great skills left because of this, which has hit directly in the company performance.

Pros – The people. Your fellow employees that are dwindling in numbers.

Cons – No guidance or honesty at the senior management level. No clear plan for the future. There was always a feeling of the floor dropping from underneath you. Too many layoffs after being told there wouldn't be any. Overall sense of dread.

Advice to Senior Management – Resign your positions and allow new more enthusiastic people to run the company.

Cons – No work life balance. No defined career path for most employees.

Advice to Senior Management – The troops need to be motivated at frequent intervals.
