    Patients and families are usually very grateful for the care the staff provides.
    Coworkers are mostly warm, and helpful.

    Cons

    Corporate has no concern for staff.
    If a problem occurs, corporate's concern is with finding someone to blame, rather than the root of the problem.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Your staff is the lifeblood of your organization, turnover would be greatly reduced if they were treated like people rather than cogs in a machine.

    I have been working at HCR ManorCare full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Caring individuals in the field. Great teamwork among field staff. Office culture is pleasant but too often seem far too Un-empathetic, which causes more stress in a very (at times) stressful job. Most Often get more empathetic feedback/support from other field staff.
    Communication often very good and although occasionally those involved on a case are not on the same page, this is rather quickly attempted to be corrected - often with success.

    Cons

    WORK - LIFE Balance is FAR on the back burner, especially for the RN case managers.
    Still using forms instead of reliable software on laptops for documentation - seems rather backwards & very inefficient - RNCM's often spend more time filling out forms than with the patients.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    OFTEN Recognize the wonderful team members you have and let them know they are an asset and the backbone of the organization. Don't allow workers to feel as though it's a thankless job - or have knee jerk reactions to mistakes made. Employees are human beings NOT machines...

    Pros

    Great co-workers, flexibility, learning how to be creative with lack of resources. Need no qualifications to get hired.

    Cons

    No tuition reimbursement, no support from management, it's about saving the buck! Patient safety is compromised. Work on holidays, high turn over rate.

    Money is not everything, you cannot buy back a life.
