    I have been working at HCR ManorCare full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    I really like some of my coworkers and most of the patients there. It has a homey feel to it. The activities workers and physical therapy staff are great!

    Cons

    The nurses seem to be responsible for everything. As a nurse you can be answering phones, admitting new patients, caring for 20-26 patients and because we are almost always short Nursing Assistants, we do some of the duties they are hired to do too. Nurses hardly ever get their breaks here. This is not really a safe situation for patients.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You should put out the extra money to have an extra nurse as a team leader who can help out the nurses and do admissions when needed. It is not safe for our patients as it is now.

    I have been working at HCR ManorCare part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    The morality of the company draws you in. I am at the front desk, so there is more privacy compared to the area where the caregivers work. The work is quite simple, basic clerical. Answering phones, filing, etc.There are stressful moments but I think the stress is pretty minor.

    Cons

    Challenges are gossip. But if you stay to yourself like me you'll do great. A lot of people come to you since you're at the front desk and vent, both co workers and families of the residents. If you're compassionate and patient you'll do fine. My two biggest cone are the very low pay. $9 an hour and you don't get a raise, or probational increase till the next year and its .15¢. Another great con is you don't get the chance to really know the residents. You know of them by their paperwork. But the caregivers receive the opportunity to build the relationship with them and the family.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Increase your pay. Your employees stay not because your pay but because they genuinely care about the residents.

    Pros

    Wonderful co workers who dedicate so much time to the patients. Team effort amongst coworkers.

    Cons

    Poorly trained DOR. Organizational paperwork comes before all, including pts. V. Poor raises. Embarrassing 1-2%. High turnover between OT, PT and ST.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't cut nursing, CNA and therapy hours ; look at middle management and see that you don't need 4 nursing managers to get the same poor results.

    because I have most of the skills that you need and I am easily trainable for the rest and I am very organized and I take pride in my job.and I am a people person and I do my best to motivate the person that working along with me

    working short staffed it.and not having enough towels and washcloths
