I worked at HGA Architects & Engineers as an intern

    Pros

Wide range of work, good internship program, most employees are friendly and skilled

    Cons

mentoring was promised but never followed through on. Wearing headphones is strongly discouraged in an open office environment that can be noisy and hard to concentrate in- for an A&D firm, you would expect them to understand more about the problems of open offices.

Is there an upside??? Management chasing their tails....

I worked at HGA Architects & Engineers full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexibility and a great balance between work and home. They truly cared about their employees. Wonderful compensation program and EXCELLENT benefits. They had fun events throughout the year to keep employees engaged and happy. Easy access for commuting or riding the bus. Excellent mix of quality talent, great co-workers and friends.

    Cons

This was a great company to work for in the beginning, before they go too big for their britches. Too many chiefs, not enough workers. Management is very hands-off, so if something fails they aren't to blame, but they also take all of the credit if the project goes well. They hand out "Titles" like they are candy. If you are Engineer, then you are given the status of "Associate". There weren't opportunities for advancement or training. The worst part was the lack of recognition for a job well done. Lack of marketing for new projects, really brought this firm to it's knees.

I have been working at HGA Architects & Engineers full-time

    Pros

    Good salary and benefits.
Those in early stages of Architectural career will learn a lot doing CAD work for Hospitals.

    Cons

Unrealistic promises made to clients, onus on production team to deliver at any cost. Employees typically undervalued at the Job Captain and higher levels.
    Little support for progression.
Pigeon-holing is the choice method to attain efficiency.
Praise is often insincere and criticism not delivered to the person to whom it is directed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Most of the praise they seek is better attained by putting more energy into the quality of work produced rather than trying to use buzzwords and promising clients any request.
