I have been working at HLB Communications

    Pros

Senior management is exceptional, hard-working and demand perfection, which makes you strive every day to be at your best and have a sense of pride for your work and the company's.

    Cons

If you do not have a strong attention to detail and cannot handle a fast-paced environment, this firm is not for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior management has done an excellent job, especially in this tough economic environment. When many other firms are closing their doors, we are busy with new business leads and expanding our client base.

    Pros

    Smart people, complex projects, challenging

    Cons

Demoralizing management, fostering infighting, secretive, plays favorites

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

So much wasted time and talent. If you would just recognize the hard work and treat people with a modicum of respect....Renaming the company alone is not enough

    I worked at HLB Communications

    Pros

At first, exposure to complex projects, in-depth strategic approaches, smart clients and challenging work. When things are going well, produces solid results and you can be proud of your work there. The flexibility to work from home a few days a week is a huge plus.

    Cons

Extreme favoritism, clique-ish, like "mean girls" only older. Inside buddies get everything, everyone else is spied on by them and paid less, given less benefits, etc (you are not allowed to discuss, but truth wins out). If you are not among the anointed few, you are screwed, basically. Smart people but cannot manage others, have no clue about what inspires, and is great at killing morale. Should be great place to be, but extremely volatile personalities make it unpredictable and unnecessarily stressful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a clue about not being abusive, not lying, having integrity and treating everyone equally. If you give people responsibility for people and projects they have no authority or control over, you are designing a way for people to fail.
