    Pros

    Flexible schedules, good work-life balance

    Cons

Low salary, little or no raises the last couple of years, managed by marketing guys, not tech guys, maybe that's true everywhere..

    Pros

The company does not micromanage employees. They provide employees with the tools and resources needed in order to perform the job at hand. You have access to all of the individuals that have the same job code as yours in order to maximize your training. Excellent place to work.

    Cons

They have massive work force reductions every year making work very stressful. Employees try their best not to focus on the fact that one day you will be on the work force reduction list but it is always in the back of your mind.

    Advice to Management

Working for HPES has been a positive experience for me. The company values and culture is a real positive one in which you are encouraged to do your very best.

    Pros

I've worked for HP for 17 years, in that time I have been given the opportunity for growth and rewarded for performance.
I believe in the company, the products and services it provides
Meg is driving innovation / vision

    Cons

While I believe in the split of the company, it would prepare HP ES LLC for possible M&A; in the forefront of many employees is the current work force reduction/migration and additional projected $2B cost reduction after the split for HPES.

    Pros

    -Good Benefits
-Smart and caring co-workers (my team is amazing, they are like family)
-No micro-management (at least on my team)
    -Good facility
    -Powerful brand and recognition

    Cons

-Removing the option to work remote (to try to force attrition)
-Too much administrivia nonsense (common in this size company)

    Advice to Management

Removing the option to work remote is low, especially to those who have done it efficiently for over a decade. The workers know why you did this, but we also understand why you aren't being honest about it.

Put forth a real growth strategy outside of trying to purchase the competition. Look at the historical precedent, it does not work.

    Pros

Very flexible work schedule that allowed working from home, with decent benefits, and many people who wanted to help foster your development. There was a lot of space that allowed me to be innovative. My manager was not micro managing, and believed in trust.

    Cons

The culture is difficult to break into as a entry level, since most are senior level that have been working together for 25+ years. The expectations can be unrealistic at times, as a result of the huge gap in experience between employees. There was not much integration between HP and the acquisitions, which led to confusion and power struggles at times. No increases in pay offered due to HP turnaround, which is stifling when you are starting out.

    Advice to Management

Try not to get sucked into the office politics between yourself and other managers. Understand that mistakes are part of the growth process, and do not tolerate other managers berating your reports. Allow them to feel secure that the opportunity for advancement exists, and communicate that you believe they are capable.
