ProsExcellent Company, Management is great! Colleagues are hard working (most of them) They offer great benefits and are very much family oriented.
I have noticed with this company that most of the people that complain about every little thing and the people that are never happy with the work load " No Matter What" In most cases, it's because these individuals don't like to work hard. They are looking to come to work to chitchat and get paid for doing nothing. They want high salaries, high commissions, but they don't want to work hard.
I know for a fact that if you are a hard worker, you give this company 100% while at work (like an employee should) They are more than fair to you.

I left the company due to a life threatening illness, If I were healthy I would love to be there!!! I worked very hard, had fun with the many activities the company organized for the Employees. I do miss co-workers and the company. They are wonderful!

ConsThey do need to be more organized and they need to setup better training program.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of the people that bring down the department's morale with there constante complaining, bad attitude, etc.
Set up a better training program, have a master training manual and have each new employee sign off on each area / part once they have finished training. That way everyone has the same training, you have proof that it was taught and when everyone is being trained the same way there is less chance of an E&O.

Don't know why they are still in business

    Analyst (Current Employee)
    Tampa, FL

ProsA number of my co-workers are talented people who want to do the right thing. Flexibility and opportunity to work from home are appreciated. Frontage Road location is a good central location to work at.

ConsAlmost everything else. Salaries are low. Benefits are not good (except the PTO, which is decent). Management is way out of touch with reality, and never seems to learn from the mistakes they make. Company is ridiculously top-heavy, and they keep on hiring executives. Morale is continually low - and no one seems to care. Every project is implemented by the seat of their pants...with the same disastrous results and the same dissatisfied customers. They continue to hire people to make a difference, but then they don't allow them to. Overall, it is not a place you can feel successful, no matter how hard you try.

Advice to Senior ManagementWake up - stop listening to the people who got the company into this situation, and start listening to the people who actually do the work every day. Stop spending the money so stupidly, and invest in BRAND-NEW systems, not band-aiding the crappy systems currently in use. Perhaps invest in the people actually doing the work and trying to make a success of your ridiculous commitments and poorly planned projects. Enjoy spending your ridiculous salaries and bonuses while the company is going down the tubes. FYI - HPS is a joke in the IT and Insurance industries - and so are you.

    Great Potential

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Tampa, FL

ProsExcellent People, many hardworking professionals investing 100% of their skills.Great potential to become a fortune 500 company.

ConsCompensation could be better, no incentives, wrong people in leadership positions, could be a career killer if you fall in the hands of the wrong manager.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider better compensation or incentives for employees with a long commute having to travel back and forth between Frontage and Lakeview Locations.

    IT is not high tech

    IT Department (Current Employee)
    Tampa, FL

ProsHard working people and most are helpful. There are still a few scattered good, trustworthy managers there but they are leaving as are the quality employees.

ConsThey will go back to a rejected idea after about two years and expect the person who had the idea to work OT on that idea. Regular hours AND OT are still reserved to putting out fires of what management decided to use instead of listening to that idea two years prior. If the idea was designed to use .Net, however, you'll have to somehow do it in Java or some other technology the company won't have to pay for.

Talent is leaving and they're bringing in new talent which is why they're hiring so much.

There is one team lead who will literally scream at her subordinates and can be heard by other departments yet nothing is done about her. This is a real moral killer in a company where moral is already low.

Advice to Senior ManagementIs advice really helpful if they don't listen? Instead of rejecting ideas, make the person think you actually value them as an employee and at least pretend to be interested and throw them some kind of bone to make them feel that you're loyal. But I guess that's kind of hard when you're too cheap.

    All pain without the growing.....

    Web Developer (Former Employee)
    Tampa, FL

ProsClose to home. Most co-workers are willing to help. Some managers who put in their notices continue to help others before they leave.

ConsCheap cheap cheap cheap!!!!! This company is CHEAP!

Only the privileged get rewarded or the opportunity to grow. If you're not one of the privileged don't bother taking classes unless it's to get out of HPS because they will not give you the opportunity to "grow". They say they will but it's NOT TRUE!

If you want to change groups and you're qualified for the position you'll have to wait and find out if the manager of that group has a friend they want hired in front of you. Sometimes they won't even post the job, they'll just hire someone new (a friend or relative) for the group.

Technology is OLD. About 15-20 years old. And if it can be done with several hundred lines of code in a batch file then that is great!

They make no effort in keeping employees who turn in their notices. They like to say they're growing and constantly hiring. This is because of everyone who is quitting!

Advice to Senior ManagementYou're failing! How many years has it been now that you decided to move in another direction? You're not fooling anyone. When the economy starts to improve you better be prepared for a mass exodus.

    Not a "World-class" Organization

    Programmer/Analyst (Former Employee)
    Tampa, FL

ProsAbundant growth potential in the industry. Opportunities are limited only by management's imagination. Senior Management seems to be anticipating significant growth based upon the number of executives.

ConsManagement's imagination is limiting opportunities. Consultants are brought in to tell them what other companies are doing, rather than listening to employees' innovative ideas.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop building a management structure for a company 5 to 10 times the size. Too much of the limited amount of money available is being used to pay unnecessary VP salaries.

On the other hand, before you can grow the customer base you must strengthen the infrastructure to support the customer base you have. When no one can do their jobs because the system is so bogged down by month-end processing, it isn't helping anyone.

Learn to cut your losses. When an obviously terrible choice is made for a software package, admit it, get rid of it, and move on. Don't continue to pour good money after bad. You can probably better afford to get a more expensive package that works than spending an unknown amount trying to get a poorly designed, poorly written, and poorly chosen package to do what you need.
