I worked at HSBC Bank USA full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I do believe it's a good place to work for, I had a lot of great years there. As time did go on, it did change for me and not for the better.

    Cons

I don't think the pay is very fair at all, hardly ever got a raise and the overtime I once was getting, didn't last very long and never came back.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

make your employees that have been with the organization for a long time feel appreciated and show them some gratitude for all the years of hard work.

I worked at HSBC Bank USA full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The majority of the employees are great to work with and the benefits are excellent. Depending on your manager there is a lot of flex work schedules (flex hours, job share, work from home). Can move around to a lot of different positions in different areas.

    Cons

Salaries tend to be on the mid to low end for industry. Very political for promotions.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at HSBC Bank USA as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Gained valuable experience and received exposure to many segments of the bank. Pay was adequate. Good opportunities for international communications and culture experience.

    Cons

Management is plagued by poor planning, poor communication, and rampant cronyism. Hostile environment towards temp workers. Low level of accountability across business lines.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop skills in communication, organization, and leadership. Treat employees fairly and with respect. Stop capitulating to demands of Business segments and take Compliance roles more seriously.

I worked at HSBC Bank USA

    Pros

Room for growth, commission potential. Some flexibility in hours once you were established (depending on manager).

    Cons

Upper Management unprofessional- a lot of emotional decisions. No consistency among management, job satisfaction depends on personality of manager- drama filled environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your upper management and make sure the proper business protocols are being followed. Emotions play too much of a role on decision making, more policies need to be implemented and followed.

    Pros

A real international bank, work life is relatively balanced compared to other banks, pay is okay

    Cons

Short of support, systems are backward, slow response to market due to the above mentioned issues

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more money in improving the infrastructure and building up a team that the support and sales ratios are up to market standard

I have been working at HSBC Bank USA full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great time off program, relatively decent compensation structure, some honest friendly folks, good locations,

    Cons

Lack of support, performance minimum standards unfounded and changed without market research, lack of celebratory comments, lots of assumptions, poor senior upper management, too much repetitive messages, CRM tool abysmal, monthly changes in focuses, favoritism

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too many changes in too short period of time, reliance on great employees to cover for many of the company's process issues, roll out of new products poor.

I worked at HSBC Bank USA full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Ethical, international, serious comlpany. Client and goal focused. Good management

    Cons

It is a strategy to have below the market salaries, unless you join the company with a good salary, you will have a problem, no pay raises. never.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    To change their salary policy.
