Starting your career from HSBC may not be ideal, but retirement may be a good

Assistant Manager (Current Employee) Calcutta (India)

Proscompensation, perks and promotion (depends on the business you are working on) are okay type. Please keep in mind, since its financial sector, so you should not expect much as IT person (may be core engineering, ITO, Analytic etc)

ConsYou would get multiple promotion and big big designation (by name) here. But actually you need to struggle (for searching job outside HSBC) a lot to match similar designation (outside HSBC) and skill sets you have developed (inside HSBC).....huge difference. You may need to compromise your job satisfaction with compensation you would be getting in HSBC

Advice to Senior Managementstop bureaucracy, get the right leaders in right place so that s/he can in turn streamline rest down the line. Get appropriate measurement in place across all the levels.

Good for Engineers not for MBAs

Business Analyst (Former Employee) Bangalore (India)

    Pros- Nice Work culture
    - Supportive Teammates
    - Transport facilty

Cons- Not much scope for learning as most of the processes are already in place.
    - Not the right place for MBAs. The same work is given to engineers and MBAs
    - Very Bureaucratic
    - Mostly American shift timings
    - Cell Phones/ Hand bags not allowed inside office
    - 3 months' notice period

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
