Pros
good work place
open work culture
manager accessable
Cons
after certain level (TL), you need to struggle very hard for promotions
Pros
No real workpressure - so one can maintain Work-life Balance. Until and Unless you want to take it on yourself to change things - they continue the way they are.
Cons
Laidback attitude of people towards work. No real process improvements in the last so many years. Because of the geographic spread the bank sustains otherwise it would have been the pioneer to initiate the reccession. Salary is meagre - at least in APAC. The attitude of the European counterparts stinks when talking to the workforce in the APAC region (esp Brits) - maybe becoz of their insecurity of losing jobs. The culture of the organisation is not instilled and communicated across the organisation effectively.
Advice to Senior Management
Show some respect to people working in APAC. Look at the difference in the remuneration between different regions and standardize to some extent. Create a Change - Acceleration - Process within the organisation. The competitors are going away at lightening pace towards better technology and processes. Do a survey within HSBC employees' as to howmany approve our own products and services - the results will STUN you.
