    I worked at HSN

    Pros

Discount, vacation days, holiday pay, sick days, emplorium set on campus, available to shop at any day of the week.

    Cons

Zero advancement unless you are willing to brown nose everyone you meet. Entry level jobs in buying are heavily relied upon, with extreme responsibilities. Do not mess up, there is no room for error in this company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop blaming the little people for every single mistake, bad training leads employees to mess up on the job.

    Pros

Excellent training. Fun and energetic environment. Really good benefits and discounts on merchandise. Patient and understanding trainers and supervisors. Everyone here takes real pride in what they do.

    Cons

There are no full-time WAH positions in Florida.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer full-time work from home positions in Florida since the company is based here.

    Pros

People are friendly and leadership appears to take an interest in their employees. There is an appreciation of work/Life balance. Overall it's a good place to start and get some experience and then move on.

    Cons

Too much emphasis on tenure over talent when it comes to promotions but they put up a front that every qualified candidate is considered. in the end it's usually the person who has been there the longest and often times it becomes clear there was really no consideration for any other candidate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start to consider an individual's talent and experience outside of HSN instead of focusing on how long they have been there. The job market is starting to improve and you will lose talented people who will find better opportunities elsewhere.

I have been working at HSN full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The pay, benefits, and access to helpful information relevant to your job are big pros! The environment is not bad (indoors, air conditioned, nice chairs) but nothing to brag about.

    Cons

They will paint this job as something awesome when you first start out, don't believe everything they say. Some customers make you want to pull your hair out, others you'll want to help but the supervisors will in turn make you want to pull your hair out due to the limitations on what can be done in specific situations that seem to arise more often than they make them seem. Serious lack of upward mobility, I've applied for multiple jobs after being with the company for a year and there always seems to be some qualification that you don't meet yet they 'forgot' to list on the job requirements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be great if the general environment could be improved at the call center, gray and white walls with 2/3 of the florescent lights burnt out is king of depressing. Also there really should be better communication between departments! We're always being given contradicting statements from one department or the other.

    Pros

Work at home. No work clothes or lunch to pack. Comfort of my home/desk and office

    Cons

    Pros

Good benefits and a wonderful discount. Love HSN products. There is also a lot of nice people.

    Cons

Not easy to advance your career. HR puts unreasonable qualifications on job postings. Example .... You have to be in your current position 6 months ... Even if you have all the experience and qualifications that are posted .... HR will not consider you for the open position ....they hire from outside. I understand the being in your position requirement, but when there is no one from inside that qualifies you should then open the job up to outside and include those internally that meet the job description to make business sense?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at the people you have for open positions! You tell us in Training that the opportunities are great! Not true!
