Privately held company with very driven CEO and owners. Positioned as a technology and innovation leader in industry.

Director (Current Employee)
Waukesha, WI

I have been working at HUSCO International full-time for more than 10 years

ProsFew layers of management and ability to make strategic decisions quickly to follow potential business opportunities. Great new products under development and coming out into production, with lots of potential for future sales revenue growth. Company encourages new ideas and innovation. Great options to gain international experience.

ConsOpportunities for advancement can be limited due to few layers of management and low turnover rate. People often become subject matter experts and consequently become stuck in their position without many options to move latterally or grow.

Advice to Senior ManagementPromote and reward key employees who make significat contributions to company product, sales, production and quality.

ProsHUSCO allows a flexible work schedule for employees who meet deadlines. The company as a whole has exciting projects on the horizon and a positive business outlook for the next few years. The management always seems motivated to help employees succeed. As a student, HUSCO international seeks to further my education and help me meet my personal goals.

ConsFace-paced environment can be stressful to some. Management staff has high expectations for employees. Tasks can be monotonous some days.

Pretty decent place to work.

Engineering (Former Employee)
Waukesha, WI

I worked at HUSCO International full-time for more than 8 years

ProsA lot of good people there. Lots of engineers and designers, which is a good thing. Excellent reporting structure that makes a lot of sense. You don't need the approval of 5 departments in order to do something. Just go to your boss and it gets handled. Sales/marketing does not wag the dog here. Week between Christmas and New Years off with pay.

ConsHard to get promotions. Some people are just anointed as favored sons and given the world, while everyone else is just a guy. The former CEO (currently still somewhat active in things but not the business end) liked to push his religious/political beliefs on everyone in the company and was rather disparaging toward non Christians and even women. His son is in charge now, and he's MUCH better than the old man. Very personable and reasonable. They don't do a great job of putting people in jobs they want to be in. Nobody ever asks what you'd like to do. It gets to the point where you just get your same old $1k bonus and 3% raise each year regardless of performance.

Advice to Senior ManagementOpen up new positions to everyone to interview rather than just automatically putting the favored son in. Give people more recognition.

ProsCompany is growing and investing in capital equipment in good times and bad. Very hands on learning experience - great place for interns and recent college grads

ConsNot every job requires and engineering degree - and some shouldn't. Husco is an engineering design company that is trying to be a production facility

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep growing. Hire specialist to run : production, shipping, scheduling, inventory, warehousing, transportation - not just engineers
