I have been working at Haemonetics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The employees that are the production group seem to genuinely care about you as a person. The pay seems to be on the up and up. Medical is pretty good for what you pay. It is small for the employment numbers and does have a facility growth potential.

    Cons

Be cautious about the pay offering, it does come back and bite you in the form of negativity in upper management. The thought behind it is your pay justifies a lack of recognition or opens the door to daily negative judgement. There is also a perception that the better you demoralize or injure a person the faster way to being recognized and earning awards. The only thing that matters in the Plant Leadership is the green numbers in the monthly end. Safety is not a practiced encouragement, it is a forced regiment of mindless paperwork. Quality is also under the same guidelines as safety, where move and manipulate the numbers is forced and not proven and supported. Most of the production floor feels like they have to talk about something in meetings or they will be punished by the highest manager. This in turn leads to delays in making the facility run better or smoother. And leads back to the negative treatment of the core team staff to explain why the issue exists. This leads to finger pointing, backstabbing, discomfort in teamwork and problem solving and just a fear of any communication between people. Mostly you will find fear in the whole group, from the bottom to the top.

    Advice to Management

I do not know if the Management team even would care about a suggestion. It seems to work for them on leading by intimidation, fear, demoralizing and an overall of not caring about what they preach in their 12 keys of success.

    Pros

Finally focusing on R&D, good CIO, good head of R&D

    Cons

The buildings in Braintree reflect their culture. Old, dated, worn out and dirty. Old product line that needs a complete refresh. This should be leaderships top priority. Their tech is way too old and no one wants it anymore. The only way they can grow their sales with current products is to sell it cheaply to third world countries. Corporate functions of Finance, Legal and HR are stuck in the 1970s. Every time the Exec Committee meets, they walk away with a new plan and never finish what was started. They seem to shift gears monthly. Therefore there are too many projects and too many priorities and never enough money allocated to any of them done well. Then a lot of money is wasted on poorly managed and abandoned projects. It will be a long time before they start to make money again.

    Advice to Management

Spend your money on new products, replace HR and finance leaders with ones that have a vision of modern processes, continue to upgrade the buildings but also upgrade the mindsets. Good engineers don't want to work in the woods with outdated tech. You are competing with Kendall Sq and going to lose.

With the company running very lean on staffing, resources are not available to support new teams and/or concepts.

    Advice to Management

Ensure the support is available before embarking on large projects, or get the resources.

I have been working at Haemonetics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are some great people working very hard to make Haemonetics a success and there are a couple of very strong EC members in Ops, Quality, and Plasma.

    Cons

The CEO is unwilling or incapable of recognizing that he is the primary reason for the companies challenges. He continues to lose great people at the EC and Sr. levels and instead of really understanding why, he blames his leadership team. Mr. Concannon is the worst leader I've worked with and the BOD needs to act fast if they want this company to be successful.

    Advice to Management

Change CEO's - and hire someone that is willing to address the failures of the finance organization, R&D organization, and is willing to invest in the development of its people.

Co-workers are typically friendly, competent and engaged in their jobs.

    Cons

Professional staff is too lean, making projects difficult. Restructuring of manufacturing operations overseas is too fast and disrupting the company.

    Advice to Management

    Staff up and slow down.
