Former Employee – worked at Hajoca Corporation full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Great to work for if your branch is profitable, if not watch out. This model has every branch compeating with each other makes for a strange working environment.
Cons – No consistency in management and no HR to help in this matter. Good manager, good branch. Bad manager, bad branch.
Advice to Senior Management – Unify your branches and put in a strong HR to help your employees.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Hajoca Corporation full-time
Pros – This is a highly capable privately-owned business with true long-term vision. The company seeks out highly talented individuals to join the team and then puts forth a great deal of effort towards making sure they stick around.
Cons – Since the company is highly decentralized your individual experience can hinge greatly on your direct manager.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the great work.

Former Employee – worked at Hajoca Corporation full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Profit sharing if you are a good employee at a good store can be a bonus that is 25%-50% of your salary.
The CEO, Rick Fantham, is one of the best men I have ever met.
Cons – I've worked with the upper management and heard several times when discussing employees recommendations for improvement "I think what you mean by that is they think they're lucky to have a job and wouldn't want to say anything that would put their job status at risk because in this economy they don't have any other options."
They have failed to invest in procurement which has left them noncompetitive with larger accounts, and has left them making up the difference by running short-staffed. Since they're short-staffed they can't provide the service level that they sell as their advantage in the market. Recent management changes have caused several top store managers to leave and left several locations without managers for extended periods of time because they can't find people to take the jobs.
Minorities and women have little to no chance to progress within the company. I am not either of those, but have been appalled by the fact that while 30% of our workforce are minorities, there was only ONE minority manager and one female manager out of over 30.
The work life balance in non existent. I was expected to answer my phone 24-7, no matter what, and while I was promised time off for major events, like the birth of twins, there were always "extenuating circumstances," that forced me to come back into work early. I was harassed when I asked for time off and told to keep my phone on and answer my emails or else my next vacation request would be denied.
Advice to Senior Management – Learn what the word long-term investment means. Managers and employees have crippled their businesses because investing in growth has been inherently discouraged by the short-term compensation models.

Current Employee – been working at Hajoca Corporation full-time for more than a year
Pros – -Great motivational leadership
-Lots of training resources
-Profit Sharing
-Managers are given a tremendous amount of freedom
-Very stable company
Cons – Every store is different and a direct reflection of it's manager. Some stores are upbeat and lively, others are downright oppressive. Profit sharing is often used as a wage supplement rather than a bonus, so wages are kept low at times. The flat corporate structure means there can be very little room for advancement.

Current Employee – been working at Hajoca Corporation
Pros – Much of the division of Hajoca that I work in is based on people who start working in the warehouse and work their way up within the company, so all the way up to the CEO, they are people who understand the business and what it's like to work at nearly every level of the company. In good years the profit sharing can be a significant boost to your income. This is the most loyal company I've ever been involved with; several employees have been here 20+ years or more.
Cons – The company has a very flat organization structure, so there is definitely a ceiling as far as promotions go (several people have gone as far as they can go within seven years). Education is of little value to the company and shows in some of the outdated ways that things are done. Several people that have been here for so long fight against change. If you work in purchasing, credit, or anywhere outside of an actual storefront where you are selling or delivering materials to customers, you will be viewed, compensated, and treated, as a tragic necessity to do business.
Advice to Senior Management – Value your purchasing more. Right now every branch's number one complaint is our purchasing department so hire more qualified people even if it costs more and invest in the training and technology necessary to improve efficiency in that department.

Former Employee – worked at Hajoca Corporation full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Great benefits. Great vacation, holiday, and sick paid days. Turnover rate is very low. Great support from all over the company.
Cons – Advancement is very slow. Sometimes managers are brought in from outside sources. Pay raises are not done on a regular basis.
Advice to Senior Management – Look closer to your current employees for advancement into management.

Current Employee – been working at Hajoca Corporation full-time for less than a year
Pros – The people who work at Hajoca are good and friendly people who care about each other. Everyone seems generally happy. The pay is decent. Overall I believe that it is a good place to work and would recommend this company to others.
Cons – Computer system is obsolete and sometimes causes internal issues.
Advice to Senior Management – For the most part, management here is competent. Please continue making sure that your employees are happy and satisfied.

Current Employee – been working at Hajoca Corporation
Pros – Immediate management is good, friendly and respectful. Co-workers are a good group of people and we all take care of our customers.
Cons – Salary for the position is lower than the competition, and is supplemented by a profit sharing plan, but it has never amounted to much and the past 3 years has been non-existent due to the poor economy.
Advice to Senior Management – Improve the work/life balance for employees who are not in management positions, i.e. the compensation for positions.
