I have been working at Hajoca Corporation full-time

    Pros

Benefits are top notch for a privately-held company! Also, there is plenty of potential for career advancement; almost all middle-management positions are currently held by 50-65+ year olds - which means a new generation of managers will be needed. Profit center manager's have almost full and complete autonomy to make decisions on every aspect of the business, and are encouraged to run it like their very own small-business. Their personality and managerial style dictate the tempo, morale, and success of their location. Hajoca's many locations (355 in the US) makes relocating easy. At the end of the day, you're selling plumbing supplies. Nothing excoriatingly complicated about it. HARD WORK IS REWARDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Cons

HARD WORK IS EXPECTED!!!!!!!!!!!!! No way around it, the management development program expects hard work out of all of its trainees. Understand that if you are selected for the program, you will come in and immediately be promoted over employees with decades of experience. Show respect, suck it up and get to work. With management given such a high level of autonomy, your overall experience will be dependent upon your relationship with your manager. Good managers understand this...bad ones do too, the bad ones just don't do anything about it.

    Advice to Management

    Practice your people skills

    Advice to Management

stop thinking about your bonus and pay attention to your employees and customers

  8. Walk the talk

    Pros

The company rally comes down to who you work for. I met a lot of quality individuals while working with Hajoca. They have a great corporate vision and many of the supervisors have bought into that corporate vision.

    Cons

Failure to recognize employees that do not believe in the corporate vision are hindering the overall success of the organization. You are told by upper management that they have an open door philosophy and immediate supervisors strongly discourage use of those opportunities. Immediate supervisors undermine well thought out and documented decisions in order to achieve personal gain from manufacturers which goes against corporate philosophy.

    Advice to Management

If you are going to say it mean it. I have had 15 supervisors during my career. Three of which have been absolutely awful. One of which works for your company.

I have been working at Hajoca Corporation full-time

    Pros

Excellent working environment; competative benefits package; profit sharing bonus for entire company; vacation and sick time granted is generous and they encourage you to use it.

    Cons

Not much room for growth; they don't give raises, just promise more of a bonus; leadership tends to only show up when there is a problem and never to say "good job"; running lean often means a lot of unpaid overtime for salaried folks.

    Pros

Uncapped profit sharing. Profit Center Managers truly run their business as though it's their own Benefits are slightly better than industry standards

    Cons

Incredibly hard to get promoted above the PCM title Company does not provide opportunities for employees to relocate- once you accept a job- expect to stay there for life!
