I have been working at Hall Automotive

    Pros

Good brands, and promotion from within. They have a good reputation for the most part and focus on customer satisfaction.

    Cons

Sales floor is flooded with too many sales people, favoritism shown to certain sales people, training that is provided to new sales people is forgotten by management sometimes once you go from training to the real environment because some of the managers are still "old school" car people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have sales managers get a refresher from the sales trainer so everyone is working the same way towards the same goal. Get rid of moral busters who don't want to be there and trim back the sales force so people who want to be there have a better chance to make a fair living.

I worked at Hall Automotive full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Pay can be good, if you are a favorite of the staff. 1 week vacation after a year.

    Cons

Very scary work hours (65 or more every week). Will be harassed on your day off if you don't sell enough.

    Pros

The people I worked with were awesome, and it's a steady paycheck.

    Cons

Super corporate. The management company is always watching and you won't get any substantial raises or even a living wage.

I worked at Hall Automotive full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Brand diversity and local name recognition.

    Cons

People are not valued except for what they can produce. Old school management at the top which is a bit racist and sexist.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring your management philosophies into the next generation. If you valued your people more, you would reduce turnover. Human Capital should be your biggest asset, but is costing you dearly on the bottom line.

    I worked at Hall Automotive

    Pros

Very professional environment. The service managers and technicians are very friendly and have give a team environment. They understand that we all have lives outside of Hall and know that sometimes we might not want to be bothered with work that they themselves can do.

    Cons

Working outside can be bothersome in the hot heat or the coldest winters. The nature of being a service manager is more being a salesperson than a knowledgeable mechanic.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees more and don't cut back a lot of the employee perks as much. Show more employee appreciation.

I have been working at Hall Automotive

    Pros

    It pays the bills, almost.

    Cons

Most of the upper management, including the General Manager in Chesapeake, are old school guys who want to do it the way they did 30 years ago. Today's employee is different and responds to a different style of bottom up management. These guys are racist, unprofessional, and really only care about the bottom line. I am white, and in management, and am uncomfortable most of the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wake up and realize that your staff is your most important asset. When you take care of them first, your customers will automatically be treated well. They are not pawns to be used strictly to line your pocketbooks. They have lives and families that are far more important to them than this job.
