    Pros

Very creative approach to advertising and communications research. Can genuinely claim to have been thought leaders and pioneers. Back in the 90's.

    Cons

Unfocussed, undisciplined, directionless, autocratic, poor processes and in attention to detail.

    Advice to Management

Omnicom should ask the Global CEO why the average tenure of Managing Partners and Partners is less than two years.

    Pros

As an intern, this was a fantastic working experience. There was real-world application, great clients to work with, and a real learning experience for a college student. It was a fun work environment with lots of social opportunities as well.

    Cons

The employees are cliquey - invite interns to lunch too! Don't make us feel badly for being young. That's the point.

    Pros

It aspires to be a place where innovation and creativity are valued, but often pragmatic considerations take priority which can be disappointing. The culture is great as people are fun and smart - so it's a social environment. Open seating that provides for the flow of ideas and dialogue. Great place to work, especially entry level.

    Cons

As it's grown, there is less of a focus on smaller clients which are often more creative and interesting. The push is large engagements which hinder creativity and lead to an off the shelf approach - something that is against H&P ethos. Morale is questionable at times as there is an inconsistency in what the company wants to be vs. what it is.

    Advice to Management

Keep a close eye on morale and treat people fairly and as evenly as you can.

  8. Helpful (1)

Under valued and compensated. The culture is great except for a few bad apples that damper the work atmosphere.

    Pros

    Culture and Employees
Direct contact with upper level management that are open to suggestions
    Casual dress

    Cons

A lot of talk about improvements very little action
    High employee turnover
Abismal business skills - lack of really understanding how to run a successful company
Obsession with specific clients hurts business from growing and thriving with more innovative and receptive clients
    Resourcing issues

    Advice to Management

You must fire the people that ruin the company culture
Compensation needs to more accurately reflect employee work and value
Need to learn more about Market Research many employees come from different backgrounds and there is not a unified voice on how to approach market research. Many "best practice" approaches that don't align.

    Pros

Employees try hard to make it work by investing significant effort. Most are decent people.

    Cons

MISMANAGED: Operates day-to-day in reactive vs. pro-active mode which results in much wasted time.
NO COMPETITIVE EDGE: Offering has become commoditized. Meeting business goals is a daunting challenge without having a unique point of differentiation.
GROSSLY UNDER RESOURCED: Unable to fill open positions (bad reputation on the street). 1 person often expected to do the job of 2 or 3.
POOR LEADERSHIP: "find a way to get it done" is the attitude without any critical assessment or recognition of deficiencies in the environment that often make achieving goals unrealistic.

    Advice to Management

    1. Get the organization staffed appropriately
    2. Develop a sustainable plan to compete on something other than price
    3. Get ahead of the curve with operational practices
    3. Be honest and transparent with employees and clients!

    Pros

Location, people, after-hours fun (in-house bar). Very agency-like. Creative.

    Cons

VERY long hours, somewhat provincial (home grown), not enough with experience outside H&P, too much internal competition (us versus them).

    Advice to Management

Bring finances into 21st century. Need to bring in people from outside. They don't know what they don't know!

    Pros

Great benefits and very competitive salary at director and higher levels. Opportunity to work with some leading brands and advertising agencies. Casual friendly work atmosphere

    Cons

Business is losing its uniqueness and value. Cannot compete operationally with global competitors but does not have creativity or nimbleness of boutique firms. Highly political at the highest levels (all meaningful decisions made in London) New ideas and any form of 'disagreement' in strategy from other senior management is not allowed. Thought leaders and creative thinkers who do not conform to the exact plans of the global management are forced out or suddenly resign . . .leaving a cadre of 'yes' men and women who aren't empowered to make decisions

    Advice to Management

Listen to mid level employees, retain super stars and fight against conformity
