Pros
Helpful and nice co-workers. There are lot of people being with the company for long time so you can learn lot from them.
Cons
Bad management. No appreciation for your hard work. They will asign you several project and blame you for the one that you couldn't finish on time.
Pros
Halliburton has deep roots in its employees. There were numerous employees that I worked with that had worked there over 30 or 40 years. This is because Halliburton takes care of its people, tries to ensure that employees are proud of and satisfied with their work, and pushes employees to achieve new heights.
Cons
Many, if not all, of the people that I interacted with at Halliburton were over worked and stated that they wished they had more time to spend with their families. Most of these people were happy with their career and enjoyed working with Halliburton but wished they were not so overloaded at work that they couldn't get home in time to spend the evening with their families.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to make a commitment to get the families of Halliburton employees more involved in the workplace. I saw some evidence of this starting around the time that I left in that they were going to hold a family day on a Friday to get everyone's families involved and excited about what their mothers, fathers, etc. are doing at work every day.
Pros
Excellent career path for those whom are motivated to move upward. Very nice people to work with and want to do an excellent job to succeed. Very proactive in accomodating work life balance. Safety is stressed in everything they do.
Cons
Communications between divisions are political at best.
Advice to Senior Management
Enable cross functional activities to better utilize assets in a customer focused approach.
Pros
Good benefits package, can transfer to other locations or departments.
Cons
Long hours, harder to move up,lower payscale compared to competitors
Pros
You learn a lot about the oil service which can be good on your resume
They do lots of training
Good experienced people
Different product lines means room to move around within the company
Cons
Supply chain was not the best place to be in
Pay is not at par with the industry
The HMP program is a disaster
Some vindictive managers made it to the top by stepping on good people
Medical benefits are compared to what small machine shops offer
Advice to Senior Management
Try to hold on to your people. It is a shame that you spend so much money and effort on people then they jump ship the minute they are ready.
