ProsPay and benefits are good

ConsYou are nothing more than a commodity. Do a great job it won't matter.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees like people not machines! You ask why people leave but you don't want to change anything.

Working at Halliburton was very frustrating

Analyst (Current Employee)
Houston, TX

I have been working at Halliburton full-time for more than 5 years

ProsGreat people to work with

ConsPoor work environment, bad culture, old school mentality, work 40 plus hours without recognition or reward, low salary (raises minimum 2-4% even when company does well), no bonus or stock given unless you are a manager or above. Not a good environment for working mothers.

Advice to Senior ManagementIncorporate some reward program such as bonuses to ALL employees since every employee contributes to the profits the company continues to make. Hire more people so that there is a back up for someone when they take off and so one person is not constantly doing 2-3 people's jobs. Incorporate 9/80's or something like it as your peers do. You will not retain good people if you do not change the upper management mentality to only reward at the top level. I gave the company 7 years and finally decided to leave because nothing changed for the better. It's 2014... not 1985.

Tired

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Halliburton full-time for more than 5 years

ProsBenefits are not too bad.

ConsPolitical. Big, slow and resistant to change. Lots of inefficiencies in the system. Amazing still can survive. If not change, will suffer same fate as dinosaurs, sooner or later.

Good Company, poor management

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Williston, ND

I worked at Halliburton full-time for more than 3 years

ProsCompany overall had great benefits!!

ConsUnruly work environment. Working here each day was like high school. Local management did little to deter it and often participated in such behavior. Managers of several departments would say 1 things and then behind a closed door ask you to do another. Ethics were questionable.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't ask your employees to do anything you wouldn't do or that could be considered illegal. Don't retaliate against someone that refuses to do something due to safety issues and/or DOT log conflicts.

A great place to work and learn.

Principal Technical Professional (Former Employee)
Houston, TX

I worked at Halliburton full-time for more than 8 years

ProsDiverse, interesting work. Demanding hours, but the pay, benefits, and relaxed atmosphere are good compensation. The environment is more laid back than other large companies.

ConsThe first few years in the field that most roles require are rough. However, they are packed with learning and diverse situations and environments that make the time go by faster.
