Pros
Looks great on a resume
Incredible training opportunities
Lots of smart driven people, finding a good mentor is recommended
Cons
Technical salaries are not very market competitive, no pension, 401K matching is good, health benefits are standard - I've had better.
No flextime. Everyone works incredibly long hours. I feel that if I'm not on Communicator at least every 8 hours (whether I work or not) it's noticed. CEO sent email reminding employees of work hours and that working from home doesn't count. I take conference calls early mornings and late nights but do it from home.
New and replacement programs/applications are implemented by folks high up and the everyday users are not tapped for input. We just have to live with inferior technology.
Very political, if you aren't in the clique, you aren't moving up. Managers are often rude and demeaning. Not many opportunites for minorities. It is a very "white" organization.
Too many processes in place. Hard to get anything done in a reasonable amount of time. Heavily matrixed organization. Nothing happens overnight unless you have an executives ear...
Advice to Senior Management
Fix your new employee onboarding process - it took so long for my first day to get here, I almost accepted another position and have heard the same from other new employees. As with most large organizations, favortisim is an issue, make sure your management is competent and ethical - not just attractive. This companyis a leader in many areas of it's operation on a global scale and attracts high technical perfomance driven individuals. You owe it to your employees to have managers in place that foster a fair and pleasing work environment. I'm most productive when I'm happy and I think most people are.
Pros
Opportunity to work on technically challenging problems
Certain level of autonomy
Cons
Frequent changes in management
Sometimes management Lacks llong Term vision
Process for promotions needs improvement
Advice to Senior Management
Have long term vision
Pros
International work, good benefits, supply work attire
Cons
Management expects the field personnel to put our families on hold while we work long hitches to support the overselling of jobs and they will not hire more personnel to cover the work load.
Advice to Senior Management
Start hiring and training or you are going to lose the people that you depend on to keep your little group afloat.
Pros
Challenging work. Flexible working hours.
Cons
Pay package. Job rotation. Promotion.
Advice to Senior Management
Job rotation if the employee is not happy at the current position and pay package.
Pros
Salaries and benefits are in line with other companies, free parking, offices and facilities are nice, day care center onsite, two gyms, and several restaurants, banking, etc.
Cons
Many managers and supervisors are unqualified and are in their positions because of "who" they know, not "what" they know. HR department personnel were not trustworthy and do not really care about people. There were an absurd amount of "empty" offices on our floor...people were being "let go" daily.
Advice to Senior Management
Avoid secret back-door deals. Assess the skill levels of their managers - there was one who was hired by his friend (Senior Manager) who had never worked in the oil and gas industry - was a product of the military and not only was a poor manager, but looked for ways to avoid doing any real work of any kind.
Pros
Lots of opportunities for advancement
Cons
Must be a self driven individual to make the best of the experience
Pros
decent benefits
thats pretty much it
Cons
poor comparative pay
long hours (24 hr call)
no bonus
overworked
no balance of life and work
no upward mobility
salary not representative of worth
poor education system and growth support
Advice to Senior Management
the employees make the company and should be treated well enough to be proud to work there.
Pros
- Very good salary
- Very good time-off policy
- Excellent benefits
- Great facilities
- Generally good computers
- Freedom to "Experiment"
Cons
- Work on 10-yr old technology base
- No chance for promotion
- Write software for a cement company
- Incompetent management
- old tools
Advice to Senior Management
Spin Landmark off. Seriously. Landmark is worth easily 4B as an independent entity, and as such could offer employees far more interesting comp.
Pros
The pay in the oil and gas industry is among the best. Halliburton pays in the middel. Benefits are good.
Cons
Raises are less than the rate of inflation. Work / life balance is of no concern to management. Difficult to use vacation days.
Advice to Senior Management
Improve the work, family, life balance to improve morale and lower the turnover. Allow employees to move around the company.
Pros
Excellent work business ethical code. Good benefits. WORLD OF OPPORTUNITIES
Cons
NOT ENOUGH TRAINING. SO MANY EMPLOYEES ARE NORE COMPETENT TO DO THE JOB.
Advice to Senior Management
very good leadership
