I worked at Halloween City part-time for less than a year

    Pros

I have no pros at all but I do have a lot of cons which you will see listed below.

    Cons

Management sucks! They randomly just stopped giving me hours and I only worked for them for one day. They didn't open up the store until almost like two days before Halloween

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please if you only are gonna let somebody work for one day why waste there time thinking that they are gonna be working for the whole season just tell them that they didn't get the job

I worked at Halloween City full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I worked as a market manager for Halloween City. I learned a lot, starting with having to deal with different cities regarding getting business permits. From there you get the experience of hiring your team. I had the experience of mapping out the store layout and then building the store. My boss and the team I dealt with were very caring and available at all times to answer questions. Great learning experience!

    Cons

Sites came on way too late, making it difficult to get the stores ready with personnel and product in a decent time. Way too much old inventory kept from year to year that looks tired and outdated. Problems with IT, from registers to computers, especially the little computer MM are given to use. The biggest issue I had was a decision by upper management at the end of the season regarding how to pay general managers. GM's are salaried but at the end of the season, without letting the GM's know in advance, HC switched them to hourly to save money. I would not have had a problem with this if GM's were informed up front. They were not.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get real estate worked out much quicker. Above all, be honorable. If you are going to switch people from salaried to hourly to save money at the end of the season, they should be made aware of this when they are hired.
