Good place to work, advancement possible

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Rockford, IL

ProsHamilton Sundstrand was a good place to work with a lot of total care benefits above and beyond salary alone. Managers sometimes set unrealistic goals, but were fair when circumstances warranted. Managers also seemed to recognize talent and worked hard to promote from within, developing employees.

ConsInterdepartmental communication lacking, underfunded or tight budgets did not always allow departments who work together in an efficient or helpful manner. IT needs improvement to support growing demands. Top down visibility for long term projects could use improvement.

Advice to Senior ManagementLong term strategic planning

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    HaHpp

Auxiliary Power Unit Component Technician (Former Employee) San Diego, CA

ProsI enjoyed working at HSPS because it offered competitive salaries, but there were also several opportunities for career growth within the company.

ConsSometimes cell management got away with unethical practices toward the hourly employees and Human Resources was less than sympathetic, which made for an uncomfortable atmosphere at times.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen better and take responsible action when lower management crosses ethical boundaries with hourly employees, e.g. harrassment, intimidation and retaliation.

    Not a challenge

Engineering Co-Op (Former Employee) Rockford, IL

ProsHigh pay. Exposure to some cool aerospace technology. Some people can be pretty cool if you are willing to get to know them.

ConsA lot of jobs are just boring. A lot of people seem unhappy with their work. Lots of long hours to satisfy emergency customer demands

Advice to Senior ManagementEmphasis on safety and quality should be continued. However, it should significantly be improved. There are to many errors that pass through quality oversights.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Great place for personal development

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThere are some really smart and talented individuals who are committed to Hamilton and their work. There is a lot of support for continued education both with degree programs and certifications.

ConsThe number of meetings and documentation required can make it difficult to focus on the actual work you should be doing instead of the bureaucracy.
