I have been working at Hampton Inn part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The smaller property fostered a family environment amongst employees. Great people to work with and guests were nice 99% of the time. The management were always willing to work with your schedule.

    Cons

Being a franchise property there is very little room for advancement, partially due to the size of the franchise. All, with the exception of 3 employees working there had the same job since their start with the company. The same employees never received a raise until corporate demanded one for them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Implement a program for advancement or expect employees to leave as soon as opportunity comes.

I have been working at Hampton Inn full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I started working for Hampton right out of high school while I was in college. I eventually worked my way up to a job in Sales which I love. 90% of the reason I work for Hampton is for the travel benefits. They are amazing! Do not get into the hotel business if you are looking for a 9-5 M-F job. That is NOT going to happen, but it is an amazing industry, and I have loved my time with Hampton.

    Cons

It has nothing to do with Hampton as a whole, but my particular property has a problem with turnover and hiring criminals and general low lifes. Since most positions are entry level and low pay, this is just what happens but I am not a fan.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Require all Hamptons to do pre-employment background checks and drug screenings.

I have been working at Hampton Inn part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very clean, new hotel in beautiful town
Employees stick around for long time
    Amazing housekeeping staff
    Yearly Christmas bonus
A lot of freedom to make your own decisions regarding problems

    Cons

Hard to move up in company
Managers are only around ~3 days a week
High prices- hard to justify to guests sometimes
They keep most people at part-time, so benefits are hard to come by

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would suggest a little more communication with the lower staff. We talk to more guests than anyone else and know what the most common issues are.

I worked at Hampton Inn full-time

    Pros

You are part of a team in the hospitality industry and learn many different types of jobs that operate the day to day of the hotel. Everyone works to please guests and the atmosphere is mostly relaxed. You do deal with very few customers who are difficult to please.

    Cons

    The compensation is nothing special

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep it Hampton, don't try to expand from that brand and that success.

I have been working at Hampton Inn part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I am a housekeeper for hampton and I love it. It's not a job for everyone. It os hard work: fast -paced and physically strenuous. But for the right people, it is a fulfilling job and I go home every day feeling like I've accomplished something.

    Cons

The only thing I don't like is that we're timed on each room, which is not a bad thing in and of itself, but if we finish early, we lose hours.
