Pros
The experience I gained from there. It was an enjoyable job for the most part when there was a good manager.
Cons
The corporate aspect could get a little old. There was a lot of drama. Also when the old manager moved the assistant manager became manager we suffered from the lack of experience. Like not dealing with problems because she didn't want confrontation. She would prioritize her personal friendships over professionalism.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to make sure they HANDLE things and do what they're supposed to do and take care of their employees.
Pros
If you enjoy working with customers its a good place.
There where opportunities to travel through your region to help other stores.
Cons
To move up to a higher volume store, the pay wasn't worth it.
To many times management would have to work by themselves.
Pros
Great pay, especially compared to other CPG companies.
Cons
Constant worrying about company layoffs.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership changes according to who can make the AOP goals.
Pros
The brands and products are well know and the people know the company. The offices are well appointed but you must be willing to work in an open air office environment. Benifits are solid and 401K program is good.
Cons
Analysis Paralysis. This company spends an enormous amount of time analyzing the business. So much so that it seems that the upper management is looking for way to penalize anyone with a number that is slightly off or a forecast that falls just short of the mark. This is a Boys club. Women working on the sales teams will need to take a “one of the boys” mentality as there as no punches held during after hours work sessions.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn to mentor and train leaders. There are many who care about the company and can add value but if you never listen or don't encourage desenting opinions you will never grow as a company
Pros
Winston-Salem and the surrounding small towns are very nice and quiet.
Employees are willing to come together to make a project happen.
Matching 401k up to 5 percent
Cons
No cost of living raise for over three years.
No room for advancement.
Too many divisions and sets of rules.
IT is non-existence and many of the warehouses are twenty years behind in technology.
Corporate office receives far more benefits than warehouses.
Advice to Senior Management
HBI has made many changes in the supply chain. They are willing to pay big bucks to bring in outside employees, but fail to compensate those that have been with them through the tough times. There needs to be consistent HR policies for the corporate office and warehouses. There have been nothing but benefits taken away from warehouses, while corporate still has many benefits.
Ex. Holiday taken away from warehouse employees the day after Thanksgiving and Presidents Day. Everyone is afraid to bring attention to unsatisfactory conditions, due to retaliation from corporate!
Pros
Be in marketing where jobs are more protected, and a viable stepping stone to other CP companies once you have your MBA.
Cons
Negative working environment. Downsizing has left people trying to do 3 or 4 jobs with little encouragement. IT is outsourced, so poor systems with little support.
Advice to Senior Management
They don't care anyway. Look at Sara Lee bakery for indication of Hanesbrands future. Too bad the goal is to look good, or hide rather than do good.
Pros
Hanesbrands provides excellent training for their employees. The benefits are outstanding and the people who work there are very passionate about what they do.
Cons
They need to do more hiring from within. Lower starting pay than other companies. The work load feels to heavy to complete at times.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to inspire your employees through a balance of work and family life.
Pros
Hanes has a very diverse workforce. They are very Green oriented. Have a nice cafeteria, exercise facility and nice campus.
Cons
JOB INSECURITY. Also most employees are very unfriendly and don't speak when you say hello. Hanes has laid off many employees only to rehire them at a much lower salary and fewer benefits. Communication between departments is non-existent. Processes between departments are inconsistent.
Advice to Senior Management
Care about your American employees. They are responsible for building Hanes and you are now exporting their jobs.
Pros
The best thing about the job is the Discount onthe merchandise, also they are very flexible with schedules and days off
Cons
The downsides are that their is no room for advancement after keyholder and they don't let you work full time for the company.
Advice to Senior Management
You should really try to make the employees feel more appreciated and also give full time hours to people who are willing to work the hours.
Pros
The benefits are decent. It is a growing company with top notch brands. The company also provides ample training opportunities to help the employees further hone their skill sets.
Cons
There have been several rounds of cost cutting and layoffs over the past several years, which has negatively impacted morale.
Advice to Senior Management
I would suggest that more emphasis should be placed on promoting from within.
