    Pros

Stable job environment, nearly impossible to get disciplined or demoted, amazing health insurance, decent amount of PTO

    Cons

Little opportunity for advancement, reward years of service rather than work output, preference for Korean men in management positions, slow to respond to innovation or industry changes

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show more leadership. Be proactive instead of reactive. Reward great work rather than years of service.

    Pros

Free Health Care* very helpful and friendly co-workers within other departments. HR is the best!

    Cons

Direct supervisors dont help with problems you have, Sink or Swim on your own. If you swim dont expect praise, if you sink expect to be raked over the coals. Treat you as a little child in grade school, with condescending gestures and words. Expect extremely high stressful work environment. You are never treated as a team player, your boss is never in your corner, she will sell you out after having lunch with you. Its all about productivity. The bottom line. Terrible company to work for!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review your goals and get rid of the dept leads that cause the turn over rate to be so high. Start listening to those that have the issues and try to work things out. Above all, get rid of the "diva's" =burnouts. They are past any human feeling.

    Pros

New employees receive adequate training and there are plenty of bonding activities around. It's a good start in shipping industry

    Cons

Promotion is almost impossible for young employees unless you are outspoken and have long years of service.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

treasure local talents, retain more young talents, empower people more

I have been working at Hanjin Shipping full-time

    Pros

benefits are pretty good and seem to be better than similar companies. after a few years, vacation time is substantial and there is generally no problem in getting time off. not always true but most weeks will be 40 hours giving you a chance to have a life outside the office.

    Cons

disconnect between North American HQ and head office in Korea is constant source of frustration. lots of turnover and lack of training leads to a lot of people who don't know what they are doing. salaries aren't good. not much upward mobility but even if there was it would take much longer than it realistically should take.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

relax rigid promotion schedules, increase salaries and invest in talent to make it worthwhile to stick around.

    Pros

Only pro to working here is FREE health care. Other than that some of the employees here are great and super nice people.

    Cons

No employee appreciation. No job growth. No career development. HUGE turnover!! A place where coming in and fighting to make it to 5 pm is the only way to survive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should start acknowledging the good employees that you have so they can stick around.

    Pros

Great benefits that are paid for

    Cons

Dismal lack of communication and respect for employee well being. Glad benefits are good..cause you'll need them when the company drives you until you collapse

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to take a moment to thank your employees who are woefully understaffed and underpaid.
