Once decent company that has quickly spiraled into a mess of awful management with the emphasis on profit only

    Customer Service Representative (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsGreat benefits that are paid for

ConsDismal lack of communication and respect for employee well being. Glad benefits are good..cause you'll need them when the company drives you until you collapse

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to take a moment to thank your employees who are woefully understaffed and underpaid.

Great place to get experience for 2 or 3 years max

    Operations Associate (Current Employee)
    Alpharetta, GA

    ProsGood entry level job
Great Benefits - you don't pay into insurance, mostly $10 co-pays
    decent 401K

ConsManagement is a mess. No internal communication between departments. Some management won't back you up no matter how logical you are. Throw money away while they claim cost saving is our goal
    Crappy Salary

Advice to Senior ManagementGet it together. Communicate and work together with other dept. and back up your workers even if that means talking to HQ.

    Not a long-term opportunity

    Logistics Coordinator (Current Employee)
    Alpharetta, GA

ProsJob is as challenging as you make it: either you do daily tasks and it's simple, or seek out extra work for a challenge. Great benefits, for now.

ConsNo leadership, just bosses. Nobody wants to lead by example or inspire, they just want to direct and micromanage. Company weathered economic downturn, but has not shown flexibility in adapting to become profitable again since then.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit being out-of-touch bosses, show people you are actually behind them and support them. Don't leave your staff twisting in the wind at the first sign of conflict and maybe they'll actually work for you.

Just okay, if you're settling for "just okay"

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood for jump starting your career from humbling beginnings. Pretty relaxed, and the work expectations are not too high. Just get in there, do your 8-5 and peace out. They actually did not encourage overtime when I worked there, because they didn't want to pay their employees extra money. I guess that's a good thing if you hate overtime.

ConsNot much growth opportunities, and the salary definitely is lower than the standard. Also, lots of old Asian men being creepy, and behaving in a very unprofessional way. Benefits are just average, and there are no real perks for working at Hanjin. Unless you are constantly shipping huge containers of stuff to other places, which I doubt. Not sure if they even give you a discount for that.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive employees more opportunities for growth and promotion. That would boost morale, and people would actually try hard to move up the ladder. If there is no next step, then what's the point? The only other option is to pack up and leave, to find something better.

Hanjin is a nice place to start a career...get experience and move on!

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Alpharetta, GA

ProsGreat benefit plan. Medical, Dental & Vision coverage for all employees and family, 100% paid by Hanjin. Company lunch provided on last Friday of every month.

ConsBelow average salary, too many micro managers, no loyalty to employees, no benefit to staying long term with this company, most employees get experience and move on and the company makes no effort to retain them, high turnover. No bonuses, no raises, weak severance package, inadequate training

Advice to Senior ManagementClosing the Atlanta service center is a horrible decision. Treat your employees better.

    Great first job

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThey provide entry level employees with a great introduction to the industry. There is a strong emphasis on continued training.

ConsThere is very limited potential for upward mobility. Decisions are made from the top down with little regard for employee input.

    oucompany

    Supervisor (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsIf you work hard, you will be rewarded with great bonuses and salary increases.

ConsHanjin is structured by hierarchy. Don't be surprised if upper management doesn't listen to new ideas from lower level employees. You would need to bring it to your manager, and your manager would need to take it to their manager, and so forth in order to possibly implement a new idea.
