    Pros

    The people here are great.

    Cons

majority of IT has been outsourced to India. Illegal use of h1 Visas by replacing local workers who must train their replacements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

The company really has some great things going for it, it just really depends on what department you are in and who you work with. If you just want to find a place you can show up everyday and eventually retire--this is the place--but you have to be willing to say yes to any silly request that meets you.

    Cons

Leadership is often disconnected, not necessarily qualified and far too political to get anything valuable done. If you are in one of the departments with over-promoted leadership--gooooood luck!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The boys club should stop immediately. The office politics drive out good workers and you're left with cube-warmers. Often too many ineffective bosses and not enough motivated workers.

    Pros

    Flexible schedules. Many good people.

    Cons

High stress, unrealistic expectations, ridiculous deadlines.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management doesn't have a clue about what goes on there day-to-day and how bad morale is - especially IT. Very poor decision making with regard to new projects.

I have been working at Hanover Insurance full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Everyone is extremely friendly, supportive and always willing to help. In the future leaders program, you gain exposure to all aspects and departments of the company and have the freedom to involve yourself in nearly any project that you are interested in. Pay is very high and work/life balance is perfect. Additionally, you are granted a significant amount of autonomy and are not micromanaged. Overall, a great company to work for.

    Cons

Very outdated systems that are slow and can be difficult to work with.

    Good Company

I have been working at Hanover Insurance full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good people to work with. Leadership at all levels seems to be in tune with the employee base.

    Cons

Certain business segments have better leadership than others. There tends to be specific areas of the company that get popular for a time, but then the trend shifts. If you miss the shift, you may be left in a stressful situation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

While there are a ton of cases where lazy employees may say they are overworked, make sure to assess the cases where good employees are burning out due to an unrealistic workload.

I worked at Hanover Insurance full-time

    Pros

Some of the employees are very professional.

    Cons

The Worker's Comp unit is a mess, high turnover, incompetent management and seldom in the office. Corporate interpretation of employment laws governing pay out of time off benefits is questionable. Computer system is antiquated. Cliques and favoritism rampant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care enough to open your eyes and look at what your local management is doing (and not doing) to benefit the company.
