I worked at Hanover Insurance full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I honestly can't think of any. The best benefit is that they have a lunch room on site, which is nice. If you are one of their "chosen" few, you will advance rather quickly. Overall physical office is nice. Dry cleaning is available.

    Cons

Work environment, salary, benefits, micro managed, everyone is unhappy, growth, harassment from upper management. There were several occasions where I witnessed or was part of, being verbally abused in meetings with multiple people in the room. At one point, was told "Were you even paying attention?? That was a dumb question." Reported incidents to HR and were not handled, rather brushed under the rug.

I have been working at Hanover Insurance full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The best part for me are the folks I work alongside. They're supportive, helpful and have come to be really great friends. There's a lot to learn on the job, but it's worthwhile. Great training program initially. You can go quite a few different directions once you're in!

    Cons

It can be a bit stressful because there's so much to learn, but you do the best you can and keep on truckin'.

I have been working at Hanover Insurance full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The company really has some great things going for it, it just really depends on what department you are in and who you work with. If you just want to find a place you can show up everyday and eventually retire--this is the place--but you have to be willing to say yes to any silly request that meets you.

    Cons

Leadership is often disconnected, not necessarily qualified and far too political to get anything valuable done. If you are in one of the departments with over-promoted leadership--gooooood luck!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The boys club should stop immediately. The office politics drive out good workers and you're left with cube-warmers. Often too many ineffective bosses and not enough motivated workers.

    Pros

    Flexible schedules. Many good people.

    Cons

High stress, unrealistic expectations, ridiculous deadlines.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management doesn't have a clue about what goes on there day-to-day and how bad morale is - especially IT. Very poor decision making with regard to new projects.
