I have been working at Hanover Insurance full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Everyone is extremely friendly, supportive and always willing to help. In the future leaders program, you gain exposure to all aspects and departments of the company and have the freedom to involve yourself in nearly any project that you are interested in. Pay is very high and work/life balance is perfect. Additionally, you are granted a significant amount of autonomy and are not micromanaged. Overall, a great company to work for.

    Cons

Very outdated systems that are slow and can be difficult to work with.

I have been working at Hanover Insurance full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good people to work with. Leadership at all levels seems to be in tune with the employee base.

    Cons

Certain business segments have better leadership than others. There tends to be specific areas of the company that get popular for a time, but then the trend shifts. If you miss the shift, you may be left in a stressful situation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

While there are a ton of cases where lazy employees may say they are overworked, make sure to assess the cases where good employees are burning out due to an unrealistic workload.

Culture is extremely intense. Will love the company if that's your thing; will constantly feel stressed if it's not.

I worked at Hanover Insurance full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent senior leadership; company direction clearly delineated and understood by all employees; continue to search for next opportunity to grow and thrive

    Cons

Inside staff is very overworked; cannot seem to get behind the systems issues that permeate all levels of company and out to the field

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have very high quality employees; when issues are brought forth listen to them and look to implement changes rather than viewing it as complaining. Many of the people in regional or home office environment simply cannot do any more than they're doing.

I worked at Hanover Insurance full-time

    Pros

Some of the employees are very professional.

    Cons

The Worker's Comp unit is a mess, high turnover, incompetent management and seldom in the office. Corporate interpretation of employment laws governing pay out of time off benefits is questionable. Computer system is antiquated. Cliques and favoritism rampant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care enough to open your eyes and look at what your local management is doing (and not doing) to benefit the company.

I worked at Hanover Insurance full-time

    Pros

Great Benefits, solid entry level salary, decent training program.

    Cons

Management is very deceitful, systems are severely outdated, new system rollouts are a joke.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Worked in the Atlanta customer service center and the first year was decent. After their "reaching new heights" joke of a productivity realignment, the whole Atlanta service center was forced to change their schedules to evenings without having any say. You are no good to this company if you do not meet your monthly sales goals. Quality program is a joke as the scoring is always changing. Consistently a never ending spiral of problems due to company trying to get rid of mono-line business. I worked at other insurers as well and they were a complete 180 due to the company actually wanting to take on any type of business. Stop being so picky and take on the risk of insuring individuals regardless of being profitable. Stop implementing rate increases every year. Develop a plan for employees to fast track up the ladder. Employees will actually be motivated to come into work if they are not in the same position for 4+ years.
