I worked at Harbor Freight Tools part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

There is nothing good about working for this company, at all.

    Cons

Crappy hours, worse pay, horrible management, no safety, no training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take the time to actually train your employees, and get rid of the people who don't know anything about tools.

I have been working at Harbor Freight Tools

    Pros

Very Flexible, Room for growth, Selling warranties on products gets you extra money. Sales driven but not to point of feeling threatened. Work with some cool people. If you are a outspoken people person you will excel at this postion

    Cons

    NO CAMERAS for safety
    Turn Over is crazy high
    Stone Age computers
    Almost everybody is a stoner
    Mgrs barely help you out
THEFT, THEFT AND MORE THEFT both internally and externally
YOU DEAL WITH THE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL CUSTOMERS who lie, cheat, steal to get a free item or new item.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in up to century computers and programs. Coworkers feel robbed which leads to lack in performance and/or quitting. Give us more respect..we for the most MAKE this business by dealing with stinky, lazy, incompetent, snooty customers.

    Pros

Great Benefits, health care is great, PTO is great

    Cons

No work life balance, PTO is great if you get to use it( on the management side)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend just a little more on payroll, it will drive business thru customer service. And you will not have such high turnover.

I have been working at Harbor Freight Tools

    Pros

Commission. Paid time off. Extra hours.

    Cons

They ask too much from you. They always want to you sell and sell. Sometimes customers get annoyed and cashiers are the ones to take the backlash because we have to ask them so many questons. Management is mediocre to say the least. They're always in the back and hardly in the front, so when you call them for help in the front they take forever.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be better at your job.

I have been working at Harbor Freight Tools

    Pros

Exciting growth and lean employee resurces means that all contribute to the bottom line.

    Cons

Despite a core principle of collaboration and team work, jealousy and back-biting among the top leaders keep the possibility of attaining it nearly impossible. It is a gossipy, juvenile atmosphere with grown ups having tantrums and the their direct reports following suit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Emotional, humiliating exchanges keep a terrible cancer in this company from the good health its employees deserve. Profane language should not be used and even encouraged among the leaders in your company. It creates a layer of hostility that undermines the loyal dedication asked of each employee.
