Pros
-good benefits
-plenty of training and development
-develops employees for advancement
-recognizes employees for their work
-casinos in all major markets so there is the ability to transfer to other properties
Cons
-smokey environment depending on property and job position
-company seems to be at a crossroads of what it wants to be in regards to how they are viewed for their service
Advice to Senior Management
-rethink your business strategy in regards to labor expenses. The quality of service is what the Harrah's name used to be known for.
Pros
Work is not that difficult. Can usually get vacation or days off when needed. They supply and clean uniforms. Good coworkers.
Cons
Since the company went private, employee morale has dropped drastically. Many things were taken from employees due to economy, but we never experienced much of a decline in business. Trying too hard to be the Borgota.
Pros
Overall the atmosphere was fun.
Get to meet fun players.
Few customer complaints.
Overall easy work/tasks to complete each shift.
Cons
SMOKING.. everywhere (but that is a given as it is a Casino).
HR is junk and really does not care about problems and doesn't know how to handle them even if they tried.
Everyone is out for themselves and you really can't trust anyone, especially in Kansas City.
Dog-eat-Dog. High turn over.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn to actually manage people as it seems as if no one is doing anything to have people grow within your organization. It's a MESS!
Pros
Job opportunities are available for those who seek them.
Cons
A sluggish economy promotes much uncertainty in employment prospects.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep improving the entertainment around themed events.
Pros
Fair benefits if your full time
Very decent pay so long as it's non tipped work
Most positions give you decent hours even as a part timer (hotel excluded)
Theres some decent friends to be made
Guests give pretty good tips and gifts
There's always fun company events
Cons
"Growth Opportunities" are talked about...just talk.
Promotion decisions are extremely unfair and are based more on seniority than actual competency
There is a lot of drama amongst coworkers
Hotel supervisors screw you on requested time off
Schedules will be made to the Supervisors benefit more than your own
If you aren't full time - your screwed on benefits and perks
Favorites are played - and if you do your job, your not a favorite.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't change policies back to the way they were 6 years ago - if we stopped allowing kids in anywhere but the restaurants, there was a reason for it and it obviously shouldn't be changed back. Kids have no place there and within the first day of it being allowed we had a potential child prostituion occur in the hotel - and if you'd discuss changes like this with employees instead of management that don't actually see/speak to customers than it wouldn't happen.
Pros
Good Pay
Good Benefits
Fun atmosphere, very exciting.
Room for advancement and always teaching ways to improve your management skills.
Cons
Work Hours
Open on all major holidays.
Guests can treat you very disrespectfully.
Management will not have your back on issues that involve employees
Advice to Senior Management
Understand that your great employee's deserve recognition and praise for their work.
Support your management team and be there for them.
Pros
Great pay
Benefits package is outstanding
401K Match
Fully vested after 5 years
Good work scheduling (Primarily my department)
Fair attendance policy
Cons
Strict rules
Communication is terrible, employees have to talk in order to find out improvements
Month long hiring process
Some management is losing focus on what truly matters
They expect you to do more than is possible (then reprimand you for giving poor service)
Advice to Senior Management
I have been working for Caesars Ent. for 5 years and the views have drastically changed. It used to be all about giving the customer the best service possible. Although they still preach the message, they do not follow. Remember what you say and stick by it. With the economy going down I understand it is important to make a profit, but we entertain. If they do not enjoy coming, no matter how much you squeeze out, it won't be worth it when they don't come back.
Pros
Flexible Hours
Fun Environment
Pretty decent compensation
Always an opportunity to get more hours if necessary
More than willing to work with school schedule
Cons
Little room for advancement unless you know the right people
Upper management could be better at sharing information
Convoluted hiring process
High turnover due to understaffed areas
Advice to Senior Management
Your employee retention would be a lot better if you didn't hire below the minimum and try to work those people to the bone. I loved working there, but I hated that my department was so understaffed, some people were working six days a week. That was completely unnecessary.
Pros
You will work with a lot of fun people and the job is pretty easy as long as you can count.
Cons
Have to deal with a lot of high maintenance guests. But the rewards far outweigh the costs.
Pros
pay, benefits and training hours
Cons
staffing issues. turnover corporate communication could be better
Advice to Senior Management
provide more opportunity for growth through additional training. improve communication between sites and corporate headquarters. Additional benefits, adjust pay rate to maintain staffing levels.
