    Cons

A small organization. Needs more primary care providers.

    Advice to Management

Succession management could really be beneficial.

    Pros

I've found the staff to be very supportive of each other. If you work between departments this can especially be true. I also believe that the pay has been reasonable, and at least was higher than other - yet similar - positions before I was hired a few years ago. I've definitely gotten a good 'community hospital/clinic' feel from this organization.

    Cons

Upper management feels detached from much of the rest of the company. While they will visit in-hospital locations (though infrequently) outside of special occasions I've never seen them visit off-site locations. Being a community hospital, Harrington has also struggled financially over the last several years and this has lowered morale during those times throughout the organization.

    Advice to Management

I believe that being present more often and showing efforts to remain open about concerning topics (such as the financial struggles) would help to improve engagement between the different levels of employees.

  3. Helpful (1)

Everyone I have worked with really cares about others and their job.

    Pros

Most co-workers are very dedicated and easy to work with

    Cons

Broken up into multiple entities (locations, clinics, etc.) the place is confusing the navigate. Management agenda varies frequently;. Patients are largely on Medicaid and medicare and this is causing issues with inadequate reimbursements, making the outlook poor. Attempts to merge with other hospitals have not worked well.

    Advice to Management

do a better job of communicating the current situation and the organizations goals.

    Pros

Ok health package, reimbursement for school to further oppurtunitys,

    Cons

Upper management is trying to work through a struggling econemy, but at times forces the doctors to become medical robots that only spend short amounts of time with the patient. This can cause snap diagnostic judgements that are at times very gray.
