I have been working at Harris full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

If you're top talent, you'll be rewarded. Able to negotiate raises and positions if you're in a department with an EM that is actually interested in the position.

    Cons

If you're not top talent, you'll get shafted. Average raises are poor and benefits continue to decline. If your EM does not care about the people in the department it's hard to move up.

I worked at Harris full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Non-management workers are excellent and some are world class in their areas of expertise. Mostly good benefits but some (401k, tuition assistance) declining,

    Cons

Got to live to work as their is absolutely no work/life balance. Just all work, No paid overtime or comp time ever. Promotions considered lateral moves with no pay increase. Little to no paid training,

    Advice to Management

Quit working your people into the ground. People working 100+ hours per week make major mistakes eventually.

I have been working at Harris as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

They care for people and always looking to keep you on board, very establish company you can be working with the same client for many years no like other companies that projects are only for a year or two. Overall a wonderful place to work.

    Cons

The contract I am working on is made up of employees that are very geographically separate. Sometimes it's is hard to have meetings and discussions.

I worked at Harris full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits, new technology center, good training opportunities, environmentally friendly and very community involved.

    Cons

Very political, matrixed environment that creates redundant work across the board. Executive management is not in tune with front line business. Very reactive and stressful work environment and most people are only looking out for themselves.

    Advice to Management

Its not all about the metrics and they need to learn how to deal with change management much better.

I have been working at Harris full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Reasonably stable, but that may change

    Cons

Medical benefits are approaching dark age quality. New cuts are coming in January to benefits across the board. Pay is ok, but not great - avg raise is 2.5%, does not keep up with increased cost of benefits. Most programs are not well managed with profit taking precedence over quality. But hey the majority of our customers are government, so quality is not too important.

    Advice to Management

Stop cutting costs without considering the long term consequences. While you view 9/80 as not conducive to business, a patently false statement with no merit, we view as an excellent benefit.

I have been working at Harris full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It is a paycheck and pays the bills.

    Cons

Copied from other post but accurate: ... Bill Brown has driven off anything good about the company and created a culture of negativity and poor moral. I have not spoke to anyone in years that has anything positive to say about the company.

    Advice to Management

    Fire Bill Brown.
