I worked at Harris Teeter part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Students who were good workers were encouraged by the managers to pursue their career endeavors. Since I was interested in the healthcare industry, shortly after my start of working there (about 3 months) I was able to start working in the pharmacy. It was nice to know that they cared enough about my future to so promptly transfer me form my cashier position.

    Cons

The demographic of people that your branch serves will play a huge part in the responsibilities that you have. Working at a nicer location means that you end up doing a lot more and work in a much more stiff environment for the same pay, which is a downer. And although the hourly pay was competitive when I first started working, it did not stay that way. They also use you being a student as an excuse to give you poor hours, which sucks if you're in dire need of a good pay check.

I have been working at Harris Teeter

    Pros

Hours are extremely flexible for part-time. This is great for students to balance school-work-life schedule.

    Cons

We have to give special treatment to customers. This spoils them and can complain if things don't go their way. Employees may do extra work they are not trained to do.

    Recommends
    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
