    Pros

The customers make the experience worth while. The family you gain with your co-workers also makes the experience an enjoyable one.

    Cons

Sometimes you can have lazy people and lack of teamwork and initiative.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please make sure you are promoting people who want to work and build their employees up and not tear them down to make themselves look better.

    Pros

Friendly customers usually because of being an upscale establishment. Better pay as well.

    Cons

Some of the management in some of the stores don't care about the people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the employees on the bottom of the totem pole, they see and know what you don't.

I have been working at Harris Teeter part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Managers were fairly understanding and very willing to work with you (usually). Pay was pretty good for a first retail position. Profit-sharing bonus was a huge plus.

    Cons

Sometimes people could be very childish; occasionally feel lack of respect. A lot of the time, your are just working with a bunch of high school kids who couldn't care less

I have been working at Harris Teeter part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Most first line managers are very caring and accommodating.

    Cons

Store management tends to be verbally abusive to their employees and, as another reviewer stated, blames everyone but the person actually responsible for whatever offense was committed. Example: one deli manager I knew would make people stand at the sink and sing the Birthday Song at the top of their lungs because he thought they took too long to wash their hands.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more in your employees' morale.

    Pros

great overall company to work for. There are many opportunities to learn other departments and move up in the company.

    Cons

Kroger has taken over and many changes are happening. Hours are being cut all the time making it impossible to run a successful department with great employee moral.

    Pros

Tuition Assistance, Friendly Atmosphere, Strong Customer Service Orientation, Part timers able to set availablity for work, bonus checks

    Cons

Cannot advance if you are not available to work seven days a week, management is always changing, and not always for the better,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow those who want to set apart ONE day that they categorically will not work to be full time or advance!

    Pros

Good benefits, nice customers, excellent product offering.

    Cons

Labor cuts are drastic, each person is expected to meet unattainable goals. Customer Service no longer there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please let some of the upper management wealth trickle down and translate into more labor provided at store-level. Bring back true Customer Service Excellence.
