Pros
Good Wages, can work more hours if others do not or can't make it to work
Cons
have a lot of people that work there so hours tend to be spread around
Pros
The salary is good but long hours
Cons
To many work hours for store managment
Advice to Senior Management
Better balance for personal/company
Pros
Easy work, relatively low stress, and management is generally easy to work with. As a management trainee expect lots of training.
Cons
Most of your coworkers and people below you will be high schoolers, and it can be extraordinarily difficult to motivate them.
Advice to Senior Management
Better initial training for incoming employees, especially front-end baggers and cashiers.
Pros
It's an okay place to work. You get to see regular customers which is great to see them each week.
Cons
The hourly wages are terrible. When you are a hard worker and bust your butt and get paid crappy it makes you feel unworthy
Pros
Great part-time pay, solid benefits (profit-sharing, money for college), flexible with scheduling. Excellent opportunity for those in high-school or college looking for a part time job.
Cons
Certain managers under-staff to save money, leads to poor experience for the customer and the front line workers
Pros
Good Pay
Overall it is a safe and happy work environment
Managers are very nice and helpful
You can request time off. You get the days you request off MOST of the time.
The store itself is the cleanist grocery store in the area.
Also you get a bonus check twice a year. The amount you receive is based on how many hours you worked.
Cons
You aren't locked into a set schedule throughout the year
For example you might work tuesday and thursday one week. Then wednesday and friday the next week. (So it can be hard to plan stuff in your personal life on short notice)
The shifts were sometimes long. I was part time and worked six hour shifts a lot. When you work a six hour shift you only get a 15 minute break.
Some of the customers were rude (But I received tips from customers because I was helpful towards them)
Advice to Senior Management
When I worked there I liked management. The managers that work on the floor or customer service treat you like a customer. The head manager of the store is also nice. You won't see him a whole lot but he does not make you feel imtimidated or make you feel like your doing a bad job.
Pros
some times get food at an ok price
Cons
slow moving, low pay. will not give raises. always cutting hours. don not take care of their people.
Advice to Senior Management
take care of your people they will take care of business and all will grow.
Pros
Good Benefits
Lots of opportunity to move forward
Cons
Location, Scheduling, concentration on all locations having equal leadership
Advice to Senior Management
The most senior management was good but the competition between people looking to move forward caused drama between employees, and other employees who knew they were moving forward gave up on their current position before they left causing low morale
Pros
If you have great management, it's an excellent place to work. Flexible on hours and can give time off easily. Easy way to make money if you have another job. 2 bonuses a year doesn't hurt, but the taxes they take out on it does. Your fellow employees can either make or break the job.
Cons
Not decent for part time people dependent on making money. Customers are rude and obnoxious about 85% of the time and don't care that you're an actual human being. Raises and wages could be a bit better, a .15 raise every May isn't really worth much. If you have poor management...you're doomed.
Pros
Very good pay, Excellent benefit package after probation period has expired. Some friendly associates but not all. Good customer base.
Cons
Absolutely and I mean never ever mention a job well done. The only words you hear every day is why aren't you done yet. And since I meant my quote I recommend anyone that is think about getting a job a your Harris Teeter. I would first talk to full time employee's, most will tell you run and don't do it. This company SUCKS! But if you like working for free. This company is for you because the labor rate requires ALL department heads to WORK OFF THE CLOCK. I could think of a worse company to work for but they have not created that one.
Advice to Senior Management
Fred Morganthall II since you keep cutting hours out of the stores to make more money a little each quarter. Here's a clue, cut the hours to 0 in all departments and the profit margin will be off the charts with this new wage stucture. Let's hope when a medical issue arise, the hospital you choose has the same wage standards you expect. Welcome to your Harris Teeter!
