    Pros

Company has been there for a long time. They will likely be there for a long time to come.

    Cons

Terrible terrible benifits. No 401k and thier profit sharing program is a joke at best.

Owners micro manage everyone beyond belief. If they tell you otherwise don't beleive them.

Pay cuts and layoffs happen every few years. Company forces you to take time off.

Good old boy system fully in effect within this company, make sure you go and drink with owners first few weeks or don't expect to ever move or get anywhere in the company.

    Advice to Management

Learn to trust those you hire otherwise you will continue to loose good employees.

    Pros

They are usually fairly busy even when other companies aren't and pay slightly higher wages than most other facilities in the area

    Cons

The plant is dirty and dangerous and the air quality is dismal. Management and ownership are very poor communicators. Management seems to be concerned about keeping their jobs over all else and won't hesitate for a moment to throw someone under the bus. There is a lot of racism throughout the plant.

    Advice to Management

Improve your communications skills and treat your employees better

  6. I am appreciative to have a job.

    Pros

Secure job, good coworkers, Been there 100 years and will more than likely be there another 100. Helps the community.

    Cons

Safety department does nothing and never leaves their office. No wage increases equals no incentive to go above and beyond. Status quo rules and no change actually happens. Upper management sits on their hands nothing ever gets accomplished. Current reality is quantity over quality.

    Advice to Management

Reward your employees, offer better retirement savings a 401k with a company match. The profit sharing has run its course. Having safe sound low risk investments might be good for those who will retire soon, but for younger employees does nothing to build their savings. You cannot retire on 200k in savings for 40 years of work.
You own the company put your foot down and make some changes. Improve the process run projects on things that really matter, and make sure they have defined achievable goals. Replace/reassign the upper management that cannot do their jobs.
Get rid of the finger pointing, the ones doing the most pointing are the ones that are most incompetent.

  7. Greedy owners - not people oriented

    Pros

If you like working for a family owned company in a small rural town, close to home, you'll get to know and be known by everybody

    Cons

Low pay scale with no room for advancement

    Advice to Management

Empower and share profits with the employees

  8. An exciting and challenging workplace, positive changes a result of a younger generation of employees

    Pros

Senior staff open to making changes for the better, safety department makeover making a large impact on quality of life, new break/common areas for employees to enjoy, young staff on hand willing to work together to make positive changes, open door policy with senior staff allows for open communication.

    Cons

Pay always seems to be low in manufacturing facilities, management needs to look at current talent and reward them accordingly to keep them on staff, especially giving the adverse work conditions (heat, dust, smoke, etc.). It takes a special kind of person to endure this environment, so if they are performing well, they should be compensated in attempt to keep them. Have witnessed multiple maintenance personnel hire on, learn about the equipment, do an exceptional job in maintaining it, then move on to make more money somewhere else. This lost training equals lost money in the long run...

    Advice to Management

    Pay for performance

    Pros

It is a challenge, good people to work with, could be the biggest and the very best privately owned foundry in the world . The potential is there ,the people are there ,the money is there

    Cons

They don't respect there people !!! The maintenance Dept. is there 24-7 and we are expected to work with NO heat and we are the only dept. that gets blamed for all the problems.under pad by 8,00 a hour, swing shift, junk for equipment, never have time to fix it right, lots of stress makes you hate to go to work!!! Its the only place I have worked that people are fighting to get out of maintenance.

    Advice to Management

Get on the floor like your Grandfather did!!! I have talked to some of the old times and they said that the (old man) would pass out checks and talk to his people and find out what the real story is, as owners I would think you would be checking on your managers and checking out there story and make sure things are running right. We all need jobs and we all care and we all want to keep the old mans dream alive so you four need to get off your asses and get back to the basics!!!!!!!!!!!!
