I have been working at Harvard Apparatus

    Pros

Was able to really participate in company projects. Felt that I was part of the team.

    Cons

The workplace environment was poorly designed.

  2.

Talented people think twice before deciding to work for this company

I worked at Harvard Apparatus full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great benefit. Tremendous opportunity for rebuilding the whole company from scratch. A lot of people are very nice to work with.

    Cons

Inexperienced leadership; misuse of talents; male leaders dominant. Leaders define themselves "smart people" not "leaders". Products are old and disorganized; no real new products; no innovation at all. Not a good place for hard working people, who really want to make the impact and want to shine. Cannot create momentum because it get killed by leaders who define themselves smart people.

    Pros

Nice People. Some divisions are better run. The Hoefer division was a mess.

    Cons

Poor pay, poor working conditions, overt sexism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't let your senior management get socially involved with much younger employees.

I have been working at Harvard Apparatus full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

People do not care so there is no pressure to get anything accomplished. You can do nothing every day and no one cares. I constantly hear the words "I'm so busy" but it is clearly visible that nothing gets done.

    Cons

No room for advancement. Management steals ideas and passes them on as their own.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be nice to stop passing the buck and actually let your employees have a say in their areas of expertise. The new Regen spin-off is a nice idea but the people in the group are lazy.

I have been working at Harvard Apparatus full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

No pressure to do anything. It is very easy to work here because of the lack of talent.

    Cons

Key contributors are always gossiping. I am tired of hearing that people are very busy when they actually don't do anything. If you try to do more than the bare minimum upper management will just pass the buck.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop micro managing. I would ask that you allow people to contribute.

    Cons

    Politics.
Every conversation around the office starts with "I am soo busy" when obviously they are doing nothing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
