I worked at Harvey Nichols full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Other staff were great and really easy to get on with. They were a very close knit team and often planned to do stuff outside work with one another. The company encourage moving up and about into different departments within the company with positions available only for staff already working within Harvey Nichols. Also great discount!

    Cons

Sometimes I felt pushed into doing extra hours but apart from that not much else.

    Cons

No clear career progression path and staff turnover is very low among senior management which means limited career growth. Salary not the best.

I have been working at Harvey Nichols full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Subsidised travelcard, Summer hours in July & August (finishing at 1pm Friday if you work an extra hour a week Mon-Thurs). New CEO has injected optimism that was non-existent before

    Cons

Personal growth - very little onus on personal development, apparent ceilings with no obvious progression, inflexible starting time, some managers/directors are lazy & make work harder for less senior people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of staff who are obviously detrimental to the progress of the business, make work more social, encourage a more sociable environment

I worked at Harvey Nichols part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Staff discount is pretty pointless as things still aren't affordable. No other pros worth mentioning other than occasional celeb spotting.

    Cons

Boring work - not given much to do as had to always look availabale to help customers. Pretty sleazy environment to work in.

I worked at Harvey Nichols full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Great benefits and intensives.
The staff are supportive of each other, fun and genuine characters.

    Cons

    Awful for career progression.
Little to no training is provided or available to staff.
Management seem to genuinely care very little about the store or staff.
The company is no where close to the standard of it's competitors and does very little to change it's situation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To invest in it's staff and their development and progression.

I worked at Harvey Nichols full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great company to work for, an hour (unpaid) lunch break is great to have and relatively rare in the industry, great staff discount too.

    Cons

Days are long, and during the particular period in which I worked at the store, due to understaffing issues I was regularly doing the workload of two people for no extra remuneration.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Perhaps try and be a bit more flexible with staff working hours.

I worked at Harvey Nichols full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Big company to work for with a big name so very good to have on your CV. There is also a nice atmosphere between some of the staff.

    Cons

You are expected to be at their back and call 24/7, Some of their management will try their best to humiliate you in front of everyone and make you feel like crap. And worst of all they will give you inhuman and impossible targets to reach or even worse your own manager will invent a story on you and then pay you to leave the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure that your line managers know how to manage those people their are managing and make it appoint they do not discriminate against others and favour people from their team purposely creating clashes within the team.
