Former Employee – worked at Harvey & Company LLC as an intern for less than a year
Pros – Nice office building, very friendly people, flexible work hours, casual dress code, informative seminars, decent company outings, great opportunity to learn about the M&A industry
Cons – The work can get repetitive at times, the database and computers are outdated (can only use IE browser), the company relies on its interns for the majority of the research work, but the undergraduate interns do not receive any type of compensation, and the paid interns receive a ridiculously low wage for basically doing the same job as the analysts
Advice to Senior Management – Consider offering a stipend to the undergraduate interns and increasing the paid interns' salary

Former Employee – worked at Harvey & Company LLC as an intern for less than a year
Pros – Better understanding of the basics and market, as well as methods taken to achieve such transactions. The work culture is rather upbeat, due to all the younger people involved, and there are free bagels on Fridays! If you are intelligent with your work and interested in the projects at hand, you begin individual research to discover potential companies of interest within growing markets.
Cons – Very little responsibility, and little challenge to interns. Mostly or only simple tasks and contact gathering. The directors are also not very involved with the newly involved. Half the time you might be confirming research with a company secretary, while other half of time you will spend simply gleaning information from the internet and copying it to databases.
Advice to Senior Management – More individual attention and welcome to interns.

Former Employee – worked at Harvey & Company LLC
Pros – Great internship if you are a rising sophomore or junior.
Educational Q&A sessions.
Resume builder.
The company does fun social stuff.
Cons – Have no illusions. This place is a sweatshop for white collar labor. It is data entry. They are able to function as a company because they don't pay you. They know that, and you know that. You are going to work here because it is the least worst option. The "buy side m&a experience" on the resume is going to outweigh not getting paid and the general boring nature of the job and the people that work here.
Also, after a summer of work, they won't even write a reference.
Advice to Senior Management – Have some sense of decency.

Former Employee – worked at Harvey & Company LLC as an intern for less than a year
Pros – Harvey and Company was a great place to spend the summer. It's clear that management has put a lot of effort into improving the internship experience. They do weekly lunches during the summer for all the interns to teach them a little bit about finance and explain the industry to them. They also would do a bunch of social events during the summer like a cruise and a bowling night that were both pretty nice.
If your looking for an internship in finance for the summer this would be a great place. Everyone I worked with there was really friendly and easy to work with. I never felt micromanaged and I always felt like I had a good deal of autonomy over the work I was doing.
Some of the older interns also got offers to stay on during the school year, so it's also good if you're looking for a more permanent type of internship. Or something that could turn into an offer later down the road depending on your performance.
Cons – The downside to the internship is that its unpaid. You also won't be doing any quantitative work so don't expect do to any modeling, but your still going to learn a lot and I'd still recommend it to anyone who's trying to do IB / Consulting / Wealth Management
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up with the intern lunches! They were all very helpful and provided great advice for all of the interns trying to break into finance
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Harvey & Company LLC part-time for less than a year
Pros – -Analyst I worked for was a great guy and a good teacher/leader
-Gained insight into PE market
-Learned some valuable research skills.
-Overall, just keep in mind this place won't jump off your resume, its up to you to translate and sell your skills to your next employer. It can look good, but that's entirely up to how you spin it.
Cons – -Pretty boring and repetitive at times, but all jobs are boring and repetitive so get used to it
-Other interns were weirdly competitive about profiling companies
-Basically had a shop full of interns and you weren't anything special
-I didn't get paid
-The younger guys who worked there (especially LMU kids) thought they were really cool and acted like they worked in some sort of high finance company. It's not, so stop acting like you are god's gift to the world
Advice to Senior Management – -Pay the interns a bit (although I guess some did get paid)

Former Employee – worked at Harvey & Company LLC as an intern for less than a year
Pros – I really enjoyed my internship at Harvey & Company over the summer. The internship provided me with a lot of exposure to the big picture of private equity. I had a great experience being involved in calls with clients. This allowed me to see the entire deal process.
Also, the internship allowed me to see how the research I did contributed to the overall deal making efforts. It also allowed me to be exposed to a broad range of industries. I enjoyed researching and learning about the beverage, aftermarket, consulting and manufacturing industries.
I really enjoyed working with the people at Harvey & Co. they are passionate about their work, kind and helpful. There are many college students that intern at Harvey & Co., so it’s a great way to network with people from other schools. During the summer, there are intern lunches and fun social activities!
Through my experience being involved in calls and researching a variety of industries, I learned a lot in this internship, and it has greatly helped me in my business courses and will be very beneficial to me in my career after college. This internship provided me with a great opportunity to experience the private equity industry and I highly recommend it.
Cons – I don’t really see any cons in this internship. I was very appreciative of my internship and it was a great experience!
Advice to Senior Management – It is nice to provide local college students with an opportunity to gain exposure to private equity over the summer. It was very beneficial to me!

Former Employee – worked at Harvey & Company LLC as an intern for less than a year
Pros – People are mostly polite to each other. There's not much micro management so you won't have people getting on your nerves often.
Cons – Very boring work. The interns just research about companies or executives all day long. There is no skills to be learned from working here. There's not much interaction between the colleagues so the overall atmosphere is rather cold. Seems like a lot of people are quietly frustrated about the dullness of their work. 2 of my supervisors have left the company since I was there.
Advice to Senior Management – Foster a friendlier culture and motivate the people. Pay the interns! They're the backbone of the company.

Former Employee – worked at Harvey & Company LLC as an intern for less than a year
Pros – Freedoms in personal decision-making. Workforce is young and energetic. Extremely professional with great business contacts throughout several industries.
Cons – Long hours. Interns given good amount of freedom, but not much room for timely advancement. Database is out-dated, as are many of the personal computers.

Former Employee – worked at Harvey & Company LLC
Pros – - The money can be good, but only if you stick around and suck up for long enough.
- Free bagels on Fridays, free water, I'm reaching here.
Cons – Once upon a time, this was a polished but fun environment that provided a good opportunity and even paid its interns. Nowadays it resembles a sweatshop where everyone cold calls, many interns work for no compensation whatsoever, and the compensation, when considering the hours expected, comes out to about $12 hourly for a new analyst. Compare that to other investment banks, not to mention the cost of living in California, and it's pretty much poverty level.
Additionally, the Directors and Managing Directors don't hold themselves to the same standard as analysts and associates. They often work far fewer days, far fewer hours, and audibly hold conversations about little league games and home cable TV installations while expecting employees to work 60-70 hour weeks for low pay.
Lastly, the people who work the hardest are the interns. Without the cheap/free labor of interns, this place would not be able to operate. Interns provide all of the research support, and the level of work done diminishes with every level of management.
It's a real pity. This used to be a place worth working for, but over the past few years, it has really gone down the drain, greed has taken compensation away from interns, and in the past 10 years, compensation has never been raised.
Advice to Senior Management – Instead of forcing current employees to post fake positive reviews on this website, actually address the problems of compensation and work towards improving the work experience for both full timers and interns.
Recognize that other investment banks pay $80k base, plus. Not the mere $36k that you offer new analysts. Pay employees fairly for the hours they work.
