A wonderful place to work. You get out of it what you put into it.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Amarillo, TX

ProsGreat Executive Team. The executive team continues to focus on the changing environment of retail entertainment in order to continue grow the company.

ConsRetail, not many holidays. I would love to have more time with my family. Being in retail pay is not always competitive.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to share vision with all associates.

    Really good work environment

Middle Management (Former Employee) Amarillo, TX

ProsPeople are key here: really good working environment and the people really make the environment at corporate headquarters. There's good camaraderie among the employees, generally good sense of humor, and little backstabbing. Relatively flat hierarchy, so able to talk with senior management if willing. Also a very tolerant culture (which sadly can't be said for all West Texan companies.)

ConsHard, challenging work, but those that make an effort will likely be recognized for it.

Hastings is a great place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe job itself is easy, your costumers are friendly most of the time. You make a friendship with your fellow coworkers easily.

ConsThe pay is not good. Now maybe if your in high school or college and you dont have a family it maybe ok for you. The pay for this town is not the best.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe CSM is not on top of things...I think that makes the store lack.

It's a great place to work--fast paced, fun, and always a good time.

Front Counter Team Lead (Current Employee) Richmond, IN

ProsHastings Entertainment has excellent managers, fun and capable coworkers, and relatively nice pay. The store carries very interesting and entertaining products. The employee discount is excellent and varies from item to item. The help desk is always available by phone and they can help almost every problem a manager may have.

ConsLots of stress on busy days. Sometimes there aren't enough employees to cover all the work to be done.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the good work!

It's a great place to work. Great atmosphere, and fun place to work.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsYou get to listen to music all day and help people find the things that they enjoy...sometimes you even get to show them something new that they will like, too.
There's plenty of room to move up in the company if you are willing to put forth the effort.
They have a lot of good standards when it comes to customer service.

ConsThere isn't anything I have to say bad about this company.
Its all about keeping work fun. The more you make it seem like work the more it is work.

Advice to Senior ManagementEvery building needs a solid foundation. Without the foundation the rest just crumbles. Customer Service is the cornerstone of any foundation. If we build from there the rest will be a masterpiece.

    Great retail environment

Department Manager (Current Employee) Ames, IA

    ProsGood work/life balance
    Fun environment
    Mostly good employees
    Excellent discount on some items
Plenty of upward advancement opportunities if you're willing to work for it

ConsPay isn't the best, but retail usually isn't
Some employees couldn't care less about the job and put forth zero effort
Corporate headquarters is in Texas and they don't understand how serious a midwest ice storm is and won't let the store close even if it puts employees in danger.

Advice to Senior ManagementHigher pay would help retain more skilled employees
Get rid of dead weight employees so you can hire better ones

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
