    Pros

    The people are generally friendly, at least at my location, and there's always opportunity to pick up extra shifts when you need to. Our manager is fair and seems to take an interest in the employees.

    Cons

    Pay is just above minimum wage and some of our equipment is old. Sometimes you get difficult customers, but that comes with the territory.

    Advice to Management

    An equipment update would be really helpful to staff.

    Pros

    Great customers, awesome associate discount, benefits are decent, flexible schedule for part-time associates, good experience for people who want to move on to higher paying jobs in the future.

    Cons

    Financial compensation is not competitive. No labor given to cover sales floor for customer service or cleaning, only for stocking.

    Advice to Management

    Quit cutting costs on people. Keeping wages lower than competitors and expecting more from people who cannot afford to live independently is not the way to build a team that will remain loyal to your company.

    Pros

    Good job for someone in high-school or in college.

    Cons

    Went 3 years without a raise even though corporate made promises to everyone that raises were coming.

    Pros

    The employees you work with are great, help the time go by quick and easily. Most people hired are nice and easy to work with.

    Cons

    Salary Upper management Hours Upper management expects projects to be completed without giving adequate hours to do it and then get mad when the project hasn't been completed.

    Advice to Management

    Most of the managers are great and easy to get along with, some that come in think they are beyond exceptional. Need to fix that, there's always something new to learn.

    Employee discount is about it

    Cons

    Worked at Distribution Center on overnite shift. Cant leave at quitting time..have to be dismissed. Horrible pay..jobs threatened daily. Poor management...they act like kids!

    Pros

    Working in a fast paced environment made the days go by faster. I really enjoyed helping customers find products they were looking for. In the small town where this Hastings was located, it was the only store of it's type, so people were ecstatic to find products locally that they would have had to travel for or buy online. Some of my co-workers were very nice people.

    Cons

    When employees or management started rumors, it would often circulate through the internal email system for all the stores. Many people got fired because of this and often the rumors were untrue. The amount of drama at this company was absolutely ridiculous. The management were terrible. They would blame the employees for problems that didn't exist. They would make you feel terrible for just about anything you did, and positive feedback was almost unheard of. Management would argue with customers, sometimes to the point of yelling.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees ideas and work with them, not against them, to solve problems. This industry is slowly dissapearing because of digital download services and the convenience of buying products online, the last thing you need to do is run customers off by yelling at them. The same goes for your employees. The turnover rate here is astonishing; how can you expect to run your business efficiently with trained employees if you are constantly running them off.
