I have been working at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I have alot of responsibility here at the hotel. I enjoy managing all the employees and helping everyone make this hotel better. I am very fortunate to be able to pick my schedule and if I come in early or cover shifts i receive other days off.

    Cons

Some of the departments in management leave alot of work for others or wait until the last minute to do things, which makes it very difficult for everyone else. I dont feel that everyone is properly trained with the systems that are used daily and it make some people work alot harder trying to fix mistakes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Hawthorn has come along ways since the day I started. There are many things that still need to be done here at the property. I feel that more traing should be given to management and they should have to hold their self accountable for knowing how to opperate daily activitie.

I have been working at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    A lot of hours.
    Decent Pay.
    Low stress/ Low pressure.
    Guests are mostly fantastic people.
    Family work atmosphere.

    Cons

    A lot of extra hours.
Not too much of an opportunity to go higher in company/ make more money.
Hours not very flexible (though I don't think that's really the company's fault)

The only real downside to working here (and I would assume it's this way at any hotel company) is that you don't always get weekends off and someone has to work through all of the holidays. So, if you really care about your social life and family time, this may not work out so well for you.

    Pros

Small company, one person shift, good communication with management, flexible schedules. It is a perfect place to start working on the hotel business.

    Cons

Working on weekend and holidays, not a lot of opportunities to grow and a very by the book company. Better follow rules.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to remodel most of the hotels. The company needs to check if franchised hotels are following the standards of the company.
