Unfulfilled Expectations

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Philadelphia, PA

I have been working at Health Partners full-time

ProsGreat location - commuting, lunch, shopping. Good benefits and time off. Nice environment. Casual dress.

ConsLack of cooperation between departments. Hard work often goes unappreciated. "It's not what you know; it's who you know." Very political. Limited opportunities for advancement. Back-stabbing appears to be a required skill. Lack of communication within departments. Anti-retribution policy is useless.

Advice to Senior ManagementReview of managers, directors, vice presidents -- many severely lack managerial skills.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Interesting Work Place

I worked at Health Partners full-time for less than a year

ProsCenter of Philadelphia, easy access to all commuter options. Offered to pay for parking and transit costs.

ConsManagement rolls over too quickly. Managers do not stay in one spot too long.

Great People

Case Manager (Current Employee)
Philadelphia, PA

I have been working at Health Partners as a contractor for less than a year

ProsThe people are great. Politics is minimal and management won't buy in to back stabbing and politics. You will be judged by your performance and ability and dedication to your customers, not your politics. People are really dedicated to "serving the underserved", and sincerely want members to do well.

ConsThe location was difficult for me. Commuting to Center City is expensive and city wage tax was too much. Also, I felt chained to my desk. Employees every move is under surveillance at all times. You're only allowed to step away from the desk at lunch time and leaving the building at all is discouraged. I felt like I was back in Catholic High School. Why can't a grown adult employee make the choice to break up their lunch break time a little, get up a few times a day, step outside if they want. What does it matter, so long as the work is getting done? There is a security guard at the front door of the building who will report you to your manager if you try to go outside at any time other than lunch. Smokers, expect to be uncomfortable.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay enough to compensate commuter and city wage costs. Loosen up the surveillance. Let people move around a little. Let the smokers smoke, so long as no one is taking more than their allotted break time, why is this an issue for management? Though I loved the people and the company, I couldn't tolerate how rigid it was regarding employee movement away from desk. I like to step outside during my workday

Disingenuous to their employees needs and wants.

Lead Developer (Former Employee)
Philadelphia, PA

I worked at Health Partners full-time for less than a year

ProsGreat salary, great location. Wonderful people working in the company itself. Made some great friends. Departments are organized quite well.

ConsManagement has to learn to lead by example. Very top heavy when it comes to Management. Too many directors and AVP's. Management needs to learn people skills as well. No concept of how to deal with people and how to inspire better work out of them.
