    Pros

Some managers are compassionate regarding work life balance issues.

    Cons

There is a lot of favoritism. Inept people are promoted because of who they know, not how good they are at their job. Workload is completely unreasonable.

    Advice to Management

Get people who actually know the healthcare industry, not businessmen and businesswomen. Hire a CEO that has some connection to the area. Remember that the business of healthcare is to help people, not just to make money. Reward good employees and offer them opportunities for advancement. Promote people who actually know their jobs, not the biggest yes person.

    Pros

Some staff do their best, work hard and really care about patients.

    Cons

HQ is a mess. Saving money is their goal. Everything else comes second . . . There has not been a formal layoff but dozens of managers were let go in last year. It's chaotic. Facilities are out of date and cleaning is below par. Quality standards are weak. No time with supervisors to work out issues 1 on 1 or with unit/dept. Salaries are 20% less than 30 miles away in Westchester. Benefits are constantly increased in cost and cover less. HR biz partners are never available and don't know their job. This has been true for years and gotten worse in last year with new CEO and his cronies from Chicago.

    Advice to Management

Time for you to get merged with a larger system. Make executive team accountable. Treat employees fairly. Get rid of 1960s mindset and find new CEO Close Putnam Hospital.

    Pros

Just an Illusion of job security HR is not your friend

    Cons

The company will get rid of you before they are required to invest in a 20 year commitment and retirement after 60. They fire the best employees in order to meet upper management goals Middle management and supervisors are over paid and under skilled very poor caliber of leadership very bad for quality patient care If I were a patient I would not go to health quest

    Advice to Management

Step down They shouldn't be allowed to compromise patient care

    Pros

The salary and benefits are decent.

    Cons

"Amateur Hour' with respect to management. "Who you know" better than "what you can do" in this over-centralized monolithic mess run by baby bean counters. Middle management appears to be a 3 year run that leave a "trail of bodies" in its wake before the inevitable axe falls. Bad morale would an improvement here!

    Advice to Management

Lose the MBAs and start hiring MSHCAs (Master of Science in Health Care Administration), people who know how to deal properly with a true health care business model and not just "the bottom line."

    Pros

Compassionate workers who are overworked and underpaid

    Cons

Pay rate not competitive, no cost of living increases, understaffed

    Advice to Management

More help, increase in pay, people are concerned about ny bills so much so retirement is not a real incentive to keep employees.
